Responsibilities The Data Sciences and Solutions department within the Medicines Development Unit (MDU) is responsible for global consistency of medical data; structure, content and meaning, acquisition, storage, retrieval, interchange and representation. This requires an indepth understanding of data collection, data flow management, data quality, data technology, data archiving and data standards.

The Director is responsible for :
• DSS Bridgewater (BW) site leadership and close partnership with location leadership to establish cohesive identity and high-functioning unit
• Developing the BW location as a cross-therapeutic area hub of DSS talent recruitment and development and portfolio delivery
• Developing and implementing strategic efforts to enhance DSS delivery capabilities, in Oncology specifically and also across therapeutic areas
• Providing strategic guidance and direction to ensure on-time delivery of quality milestones in an ever changing environment
• Ensuring employee development practices are utilized to maximize the potential of staff
• Creating an environment where the best ideas can be brought forward in an environment that is seen as safe and supportive by staff

1. Business Strategy
* Establish and lead talent recruitment strategy for DSS BW site to Development and Quality support multiple therapeutic areas
* Management (45%25)
* Develop the BW location as a cross-therapeutic area global hub for portfolio and capability delivery
* Ensure appropriate quality strategies in place to deliver on portfolio for Data Sciences and Solutions
* Create Data Sciences and Solutions process improvement
* Drive the process of shared learning and process expertise between teams within the product/program/portfolio grouping
* Drive Data Sciences and Solutions/MDU/BU process improvements.
* Work with related functions to develop best practices and standardized business processes for the product/program/portfolio grouping
* Drive standard global data management practices and ensure consistent Data Sciences and Solutions performance
* Work closely with other Data Sciences and Solutions directors to ensure consistent Data Sciences and Solutions performance and standard business practice
* As applicable enable creation of standardized training materials for related functions, affiliate, and team personnel to reinforce the usage of appropriately flexible standardized business processes for the product/program/portfolio grouping through partnership with training organization
* Ensure all functional initiatives are successfully implemented in the product/program/portfolio grouping as outlined during implementation planning2. Process Improvement (20%25)
* Continually seek and implement means of improving processes to reduce cycle time and decrease work effort.
* Lead MDU cross-functional/ BW initiatives to enable NextGen Clinical Development.
* Actively participate in shared learning across Data Sciences and Solutions and other functions.
* Work with partners to increase vendor/partner efficiencies.
* Incorporate learning from risk taking exercises into clinical and business processes3. Employee Development (15%25)
* In addition to being 100%25%20compliant with on-time completion of ePM expectations surrounding initial, interim and final review, this individual is responsible for the process by which resources are assigned to teams, developed professionally, and managed within the product/program/portfolio grouping.
* Will perform the PM process for personnel in group ensuring that all appropriate feedback has been obtained from the teams and the functional area and will ensure employees are matched with the appropriate opportunities to meet their developmental needs.
* In partnership with the function, establish a coaching and mentoring system within product/program/portfolio grouping for employees that are either new to the discipline or to the product group. This will also provide significant leadership opportunities for experienced team members
* Drive functional and therapeutic-specific training strategies of employees and partner with the function to ensure employees are compliant with appropriate curriculum maps and take advantage of all functional training opportunities
* Ensure employees understand their role within Medicines Development Unit (MDU)and Business Unit (BU)
* Ensure consistency of career path opportunities and rewards and recognition program usage at the team and functional level
* Create an environment where staff feel comfortable speaking up so that a broad range of ideas and thoughts are vetted and explored 4. Meet Portfolio Deliverables through Project Resource and Operational Management (15%25)
* Accountable for the successful development, implementation, and management of the product group plan and all Data Sciences and Solutions activities by maintaining open communication between the teams, TPOs and partners through regular interactions
* Maintain frequent interaction with appropriate BU/MDU leadership to communicate progress on deliverables and to communicate prioritization decisions that have been made in order to ensure understanding, agreement and alignment on strategic product/program/portfolio grouping direction
* Partner with Third Parties involved in the delivery of the portfolio to ensure high quality, on-time, on budget deliverables along with constant implementation of process improvements and efficiencies
* Develop and implement staffing plans associated with given labor drivers and workload
* Monitor discipline-determined metrics at the product and product/program/portfolio grouping level and maintain a link to the responsibilities that have been established
* Manage all aspects of performance for areas of responsibility
* Manage budget and reporting activities ensuring consistency and alignment with local and LRL reporting processes and year plan expectations5. Asset Protection (5%25)
* Understand the confidential nature of company information and takes necessary steps to ensure its protection. This includes understanding various aspects of Privacy as it relates to the data managed within Data Sciences and Solutions.
* Ensure that an appropriate confidentiality agreement has been executed before disclosing confidential company information to CROs or other outside parties.
* Accept obligation to Lilly for compliance to the integrity of the company.
* Complete readings of any policy/procedure updates including global medical, Data Sciences and Solutions, and local policies and procedures.
* Ensure team reviews, understand and complies with Lilly asset protection
Basic Qualifications • Bachelor’s degree
• Experience in clinical research and drug development (6 years)
• Management experience (1-3 years)
