Marketing Manager – Print
The company
The organisation is a niche manufacturer who have been established for over 120 years. With 6 sites spread internationally they are leaders in specialist print paper based products.
This new role has arisen as a result of growth within the organisation and is a pivotal and integral role in the business.
The position
Responsible for managing and developing the sales offer in line with manufacturing capability and market requirements.
This role spans 4 key areas as follows:-
*Trade Marketing
*Bespoke Print
*Annual Christmas range management
*Ad hoc project management
Key Responsibilities
*Trade Marketing:- Set and maintain the standard for all products, packaging, imagery (inc website) , selling tools, advertising etc to ensure it is up to date, fit for purpose, consistent and appropriate to the brand and delivered within agreed budgetary constraints.
*Christmas :- Management of the process of Christmas (range build, designs, timings, selling aids, sampling volumes and timings) so to ensure that it is delivered to the business in a timely and efficient way, and that the range is fit for purpose and in line with customer and consumer requirements. Monitor market/competitor activity to ensure the Christmas offer remains market leading.
*Bespoke Print:- Oversee and develop everyday print offer from a Sales point of view, to maximize return in line with factory capability. Lead and train identified report to act as Sales team expert in how to sell/add value through print. Lead for the development of up to date pricing matrices to ensure print remains competitive and value added both for the business and customers. Understand the ‘future of print and how this may best be utilised by the company.
*Project Management:- Acting as project manager and gatekeeper for all ad hoc sales team projects. Working in conjunction with purchasing team to develop new products (initiated either by the customer, or because of sales/marketing market review). Own the product from inception to delivery (from making a commercial case to setting the selling price/margin).
Skills, Knowledge, Education and Competencies
*Working knowledge of Customer Trade marketing in both branded and own label arenas.
*Experience in customer marketing role (eg development of brand awareness, writing of key selling stories and creation of customer and brand specific selling aids)
*Working knowledge of project management (managing stakeholders , setting and adhering to timelines/critical paths etc),
*Commercially aware with margin and turnover knowledge.
*Understanding of negotiation and influencing skills.
*Ability to communicate clearly and positively both with customers and internally and inspire confidence in them.
*Experience of identifying opportunities for continuous improvement and change management.
*Proven demonstration of design flair and expertise
*Highly organised and capable of managing a number of concurrent workflows .
*Commitment to first class customer service.
*Worked in a manufacturing environment
*Worked on physical product and packaging projects
*Working knowledge of MS Excel/Word/Powerpoint.
*Good general educational achievement, in particular subjects demonstrating a high level of literacy in English and accuracy with figures.
*Full driving licence
Preferences
*Degree level marketing and or project management qualification.
*FMCG trained
*Working experience MS Dynamics
*Website design/management as a key marketing tool.
*Understanding of print process
*Management of a small team of direct reports.
*Experience of internal managing upwards as well as sideways
