We are on the hunt for a talented, experienced mid-senior level WordPress Frontend Developer on a fixed-term contract basis.

As a frontend developer at LightSpeed you will be expected to know more than just chopping PSDs into CSS / HTML. We expect our frontend developers to be able to build WordPress websites using custom post types, custom taxonomies and build loops with various content types. You will also need to possess design skills and creativity.

Working hours are from 9.00 to 5.30pm, Monday to Friday. Our schedule is ‘deadline-driven’, i.e. on occasions when deadlines are tight, work may be required outside these hours.

We’re a company with mostly young staff in the 20-somethings – we would like you to be hard-working and dedicated to our cause, but not miss out on any opportunities to be childlike and energetic. A team-fit is very important to us!

Responsibilities:

Analysing existing client websites with a view to continued improvements.

Building enterprise-level WordPress solutions for clients.

Creating and maintaining WordPress child themes.

Creating requirements and planning documentation.

Collaborating with clients and design team to construct amazing user experiences.

Converting PSD designs to WordPress templates.

Setting up local WordPress development environments.

Validating code and upgrading themes.

Creating mockups and wireframes.

Testing of own code

Cross-browser testing

Adhering to WordPress coding standards

Requirements

Skills Requirements

Experience with Adobe CS suite, specifically fairly strong skills in Photoshop, followed by Illustrator and Indesign.

Strong knowledge of HTML and CSS, including HTML5 and CSS3. Javascript a bonus.

Solid understanding of layout, typography, colour and other design principles.

Experience in WordPress

Newsletter template set-up and styling using MailChimp.

Able to write and manipulate WordPress loops.

Create custom post types and taxonomies.

CSS preprocessors – Sass / LESS.

Experience and good understanding of Google Suite and its various extensions.

Job related Requirements

Maintain working knowledge of new development software, trends, and practices related to your responsibilities.
