SUMMARY

Responsible for the design, application, and upkeep of electronic controls to safely control industrial machinery and devices and to maximize productivity. Responsible as well for general electrical circuits in the plant such as bus circuits, utility interface, etc.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Designs equipment that meets safety regulations.

Design electrical and electronic controls, particularly for manufacturing equipment. Make necessary calculations, schematics and material equipment specifications.

Provides technical leadership to engineering, maintenance and production departments regarding electrical and electronic problem solving particularly related to electrical/electronic aspect of repairs for PLC and CNC machines.

Programming of PLC, CNC, and other relevant industrial electronic controls.

Estimates schedules project cost and budget.

Represents Whirlaway on technical issues and requirements to the customer. Adapt and devise new approaches to difficult problems from standard or known techniques.

Makes independent decisions on work.

Assumes technical ownership for assigned projects.

Leads the troubleshooting and timely resolution of complex controls and electrical problems to assure Whirlaway's on-time delivery and profitability.

Represents electrical engineering on cross-functional teams.

Writes appropriation requests.

Procures tools/equipment. Provides leadership for problem resolution to facilitate fast changes while maintaining working relationships.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Bachelor's degree preferred electrical engineering/technology but will consider applicants with associates degree and substantial applicable professional experience.

Must have a minimum of 3 years detailed experience in electrical engineering which includes PLC and CNC programming and robotics.

Must have exposure to electrical engineering design principles and methodologies.

Experience in a manufacturing environment.

Programming fluency in GE, Allen-Bradley, and other industrial PLC controls.

Comprehensive knowledge of integration and troubleshooting for Fanuc and similar CNC controls.

Detailed knowledge of principles and practices of electrical engineering and design

Ability to creatively conceptualize, plan, design and implement the optimum electronic control of manufacturing equipment which produces precision components and assemblies in a high volume environment.
