SUMMARY:

The Coordinator, Post-Secondary Workforce Readiness (PWR) Partner will support and monitor academic and career pathway opportunities in partnership with schools in the assigned P-20 Learning Community. The Post-Secondary Workforce Readiness Partner will support school personnel in meeting the expectations for the implementations of Individualized Career and Academic Plans (ICAPs) in Aurora Public Schools. The PWR Partner reports directly to the PWR Program Director and is a full member of a P-20 Learning Community Support Team. Assignments span elementary, K-8s, middle , and high schools. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

D 25% Collaborate with administrators, teachers, and counselors to ensure the implementation of district-wide and school-based PWR systems that match students with post-secondary planning opportunities to effectively support them toward graduation and college and career success.

D 15% Support and monitor the progress of PWR program implementation at all school sites within the assigned P-20 Learning Community.

D 15% Promote postsecondary and workforce readiness by arranging and monitoring contextual learning opportunities, including site visits, field experience, job shadowing, mentorships, apprenticeships, and internships, for all students.

W 5% Assist in developing and implementing strategies for PWR marketing, recruiting, and retention, with emphasis on providing broad access for all APS students.

W 5% Develop and maintain positive relationships with parents and community members in order to promote dedication to their students’ achievement and the understanding that college and career goals are attainable.

M 5% Assist counselors in preparing all students and parents for pathway choices; and support students during pathway application, enrollment, and registration processes, with particular attention to course selection and Individual Career & Academic Plans.

D 5% Sustain regular communication with the Principal or his/her designee, other PWR program staff, Counselors, Teachers, and Parents/Guardians about students’ post-secondary workforce readiness and’ progress and needs, including ongoing development of Individual Career & Academic Plans (ICAPs).

M 5% Plan, coordinate, and/or lead pathway events, such as presentations of learning, workshops for all students and parents, college tours, and business and industry visits. Must be willing to work on some evenings and weekends.

M 5% Collaborate with business and industry partners in ongoing identification of contextual learning and employment opportunities.

W 5% Collaborate with the Pathway Development Directors in guiding the work of Summer and Saturday program coordinators.

M 5% Participate in professional learning associated with academic and career pathways, including APS opportunities and professional conferences.

M 2% Develop and maintain current knowledge about higher education and career opportunities associated with APS pathways.

W 2% Enter pathway data in Infinite Campus.

Ongoing 1% Perform other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION AND TRAINING:

Bachelor’s degree or higher or 10 years of experience in education/business/Industry preferred.

EXPERIENCE:

Three years of public/private school experience and/or experience working with children or young adults in an educational setting, with interest in and knowledge about post-secondary and workforce readiness. Professional Teacher license and/or industry experience preferred.

SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, EQUIPMENT & OTHER:

Interest in and ability to relate to a diverse student population. Excellent communication skills (reading, writing, listening, speaking). Effective interpersonal skills, including collaboration, team work, creative problem-solving, conflict resolution, group planning, and decision-making processes. Knowledge of the APS strategic plan as it relates to pathways. Ability to meet and work closely with staff, students, administration, and partners in organizing meetings and events. Ability to work independently and follow through on assigned tasks. Ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects. Ability to apply technical skills, including word processing, spreadsheet, presentation, email, and use of the Internet. Ability to apply understanding about learning theory with regard to children and adults. Ability to demonstrate knowledge and good judgment in matters of district policy and procedures. CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, & REGISTRATIONS:

A valid Colorado driver’s license required.

SUPERVISION/TECHNICAL RESPONSIBILITY:

The Pathway Coordinator receives direction and supervision from the Post-Secondary Workforce Readiness Program Director and the Principals at each assigned school.

BUDGET AND/OR RESOURCE RESPONSIBILITY:

This position has no budget authority.
