Responsibilities:

You will add value in this role by: growing profitable sales primarily through acquiring new sales from our competitor gold accounts list, and to help Marketing Associates grow their territory by penetrating hi-low accounts.

* Understand, practice and fully utilize the Relationship Manager concept.
* Coordinate layering of relationships with our customer for complete customer satisfaction and loyalty.
* Work closely together with Regional Sales Mangers, District Sales Managers, Business Review Managers, and Marketing Associates, as well as all other departments, promoting teamwork to acquire new business.
* Establish good working relationship with all departments at Sysco Operating Company.
* Understand the contribution to pre-tax schedule for Sysco.
* Open doors in accounts with greatest potential while providing team support and building long lasting relationships.
* Understand pricing and profitability of Sysco Operating Company.
* Educate and promote resources; I Care partners, Menu Analysis, Menu Pro, Restaurant.com, SAVE, Sysco Brand. Bring resources to bear in building business with targeted accounts.
* Thorough working knowledge of Sysco and foodservice industry.
* Can conduct a professional and first-class customer visit.
* Coordinate business reviews with newly acquired customers to ensure customer satisfaction and account profitability.
* Understand our customers’ business and provide our customers value added solutions through products, services, tools and information that will meet their business needs and ensure their success.
* Understand to the “expert level” SYSCO’s MDA and Partners in Progress process and when (and when not) to discuss with our customers.
* Excellent knowledge of customer base, sales opportunities, and familiar with Sysco Operating Company market place.
* Create and implement a business plan to develop business.
* Maintain a prospect list of target accounts by Region, by District, to include prospective customers and Hi/Lo customers.
* Spends 10% of time identifying / fact finding / quantifying / qualifying / maintaining / updating leads.
* Spends 20% of time strategizing and coordinating with internal Sysco resources.
* Spends 30% of time with potential customers and newly acquired customers.
* Spends 10% of time with administrative functions such as paperwork, e-mail, setting up appointments, etc.
* Prospecting and cold calling to the “expert” level with a plan and specific goals.
* Coordinate layering of relationships with our customers for complete customer satisfaction and loyalty.
* Create a smooth transition for the customer when having to turn over the account to a Marketing Associates
Qualifications:

* Must have a High School Diploma, or equivalent, plus 1 year sales experience or 1 year Food Service Management experience; or a Bachelor’s Degree with no experience
* Must possess a valid State Driver’s license with a driving record that meets our insurance pooling requirements, and have adequate liability insurance as determined by Sysco.
* Incumbent must provide his or her own transportation for use in sales activities.
* Strong client facing and interpersonal skills
* Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.
* Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
* Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
* Strong computer skills with a working knowledge of programs such as Microsoft Word and Excel.

Preferred:

* College degree in Business, Sales/Marketing, Hospitality, or Culinary area preferred
* 2 plus years of foodservice sales, foodservice/hospitality and/or outside sales experience preferred.
