Responsibilities:

General Summary: The person in this position assists in managing the activities of the credit department, controls the status of credit for customers, provides management and leadership of department staff and performs other related duties as needed.

Essential Duties:(essential functions are in bold)

* Promotes department’s goals and objectives through assisting with the management of planning and supervising activities.
* Assists in developing and maintaining the department’s interface capabilities with other functions and departments in an effort to enhance the departments overall efficiency.
* Analyzes, identifies, and proposes action to the solution of problems with the operation of the department in an effort to increase the effectiveness of operations.
* Serves as department spokesperson in cases of inquiry, feedback, or requests for special information in an effort to enhance the overall efficiency of operations.
* Provides supervision of subordinates in order to maintain department efficiency and conducts Coaching and Maximizing sessions with input from the Director of Credit.
* Assists in establishing and maintaining a realistic reporting system that will provide accurate credit information for use by sales staff and department management in planning and evaluation activities.
* Ensures that all credit related reports are completed by the required date and routed as needed to provide accurate information for planning and evaluation activities.
* Provides sales staff and department managers with sufficient information to enable them to take corrective action when deviations from expected account performance levels occur.
* Ensures Days Sales Outstanding (DSO) are maintained at a target level of 19.5 days or lower to provide efficient and timely flow of revenues.
* Ensures that people within the control system are using the system correctly and monitors system performance to identify problems and needed changes.
* Conducts assessments, as needed, to determine training and development needs of staff in order to provide appropriate avenues for needed training and development.
* Assists in personnel recruitment and selection as required and assist in the orientation of new employees to increase job survival rates and reduce employee turnover.
* Regularly performs employee performance evaluations and provides ongoing constructive feedback and coaching to staff members.
* Completes personnel records and forms as needed and assists in human resources actions as requested.

Qualifications:

Basic Requirements:

* High School diploma or equivalent, Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting or Finance preferred but not required.
* A proven working knowledge of the following: credit practices, procedures and general finance terminology; development, implementation and evaluation of program accounting concepts; financial control systems; inter-department communications related to credit activities; reports associated with the credit function; management principles including supervising and motivating employees; intermediate bookkeeping practices.
* Must possess excellent computer skills and have a working knowledge of programs such as Microsoft Word and Excel.
