Co-op Assignment – September 2014 - March 2015 (40 hours per week)

The co-op program provides practical work knowledge and experience. This co-op engineering position will provide general support to product development in the design, development, testing and manufacturing phase. Co-ops will interface with Research and Development, Product Engineers, Regulatory Affairs and Program Managers.

Impact this role will have on St. Jude Medical:

* Applying fundamental engineering principles to evaluating real world designs

* Assists with completion of Design Control Deliverables.

* Supports design test and inspection method development

* Supports manufacturing process development & qualification for new product commercialization and product changes.

* Designs and executes mechanical & electrical tests of implantable devices. Data collection and analysis, including writing engineering test procedures and reports.

* Manage projects and communicate project status including formal presentation to the engineering and management community

* Working with cross-functional team members to achieve organizational goals

* Maintain accurate record-keeping of design and testing of devices. Prepare documentation such as operating instructions and project records and drawing revision control in a form of engineering change orders (ECO) utilizing product life management software such as Teamcenter.

Your experience(s), education and knowledge will further expand St. Jude Medical’s marketplace success:

* Current student, junior or senior level student, pursuing a bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or Biomedical Engineering.

* Familiar with technical drawings.

* Familiar with product life cycle programs (i.e. Teamcenter) a plus.

* Must to know the basics of Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

* Knowledge of drafting techniques and tool design.

* Excellent communication and teamwork skills for working will all levels of employment and outside vendors.

* Ambitious and willing to learn new things; Not afraid of new challenges.

* Ability to multi-task and switch to higher priority tasks with little notice.

* Knowledge of how to apply basic engineering principles to product and/or component specifications and tests.
