Akamai relies on a vast ecosystem of Digital Media channel partners to successfully grow its business. These partners are either aligned by vertical market segments (Broadcasters, Sports, Music, Enterprise, Film, Publishers, Social Media, Portals, Mobile, Advertising), technology expertise (Encoding/Transcoding. Advertising, Security, Online Video Platform, Mobile), or by their regional focus. Akamai provides significant value to these partners by enabling them to significantly differentiate their offerings through the bundling of Akamai services.

The Channel Marketing Manager is responsible for driving the strategy and execution of Akamai's global channel marketing program. This includes managing, supporting and developing a robust ecosystem of partners that complement and add value to Akamai's solutions. Specific solution focus areas are Akamai's Sola Media solutions for delivering rich media content and websites over the Internet. The Channel Marketing Manager will work directly with partners and Akamai's channel sales teams to create and execute joint marketing plans with partners to drive increased visibility and sales of Akamai products within these segments. This role will require both strategic thinking and hands-on execution skills to be successful. The individual will work with Akamai's industry marketing teams and business units to develop joint messaging and positioning, create collateral and supporting sales tools jointly with partners, drive PR initiatives with partners, and manage marketing programs leveraging Akamai's Market Development Funds (MDF). In addition this individual will need to formulate the go to market strategy for the Digital Media channel which includes, market segmentation, targeting, acquisition, partner portfolio growth, and partner retention. An understanding of Internet and Web site infrastructure is required. Experience in industry-aligned marketing or product marketing is a requirement. Candidates with direct experience in the online advertising marketplace, video technology, digital media solutions, rich media technologies are preferred.

About the Team

Akamai's Channel Marketing group is part of Akamai's Global Channel organization which reports into Akamai's Global Marketing and Channels team. The team is responsible for enabling the successful recruitment, enablement, development, and support of Akamai's channel partners. This is accomplished through the management of a comprehensive global channels program which includes the development of dedicated demand generation programs and partner enablement that focuses on creating an environment to make partners successful at selling Akamai services.

Responsibilities:

- Understand Akamai's overall Channel Marketing Strategy.

- Align the Channel Marketing Strategy with Industry and Corporate Marketing Strategies.

- Create strategic marketing plans with Premier and Accelerated Partners.

- Create new partner programs and enhance existing ones as appropriate.

- Manage day to day marketing relationships with Akamai channel partners and work closely with them to identify and prioritize joint marketing programs to grow revenue; create and execute strategic marketing plans to support including PR, joint events, messaging, positioning and web site content creation.

- Create supporting collateral, presentations and sales tools that convey the value of Akamai's solutions with channel partners.

- Work with channel sales leadership to define target accounts in key sub-segments; develop and manage marketing messages and marketing programs.

- Work with Akamai Industry Marketing and Product Marketing to “channelize†direct marketing programs and tools into relevant, useful information.

- Work with channel sales, IT, and Akamai creative services on managing improvement to systems and processes for channel partners to enhance self sufficiency. These include: partner portal, configuration tools, ordering systems, partner on-boarding systems, partner training, and customized collateral systems.

Qualifications:

Basic Qualifications

- Bachelor's Degree in Marketing, Communications, Business or related field.

- 10 + years of experience in a strategic marketing role.

Desired Qualifications

- 5+ years of experience in a channel marketing or strategic partner marketing role.

- 5+ years of experience working directly with sales leadership to develop and execute on strategy.

- Strong knowledge of digital media industry – online publishing, online advertising, video technology, content distribution.

- Familiarity with dynamics, motivations, and business models of a diverse set of value added resellers

- Knowledge of the Internet technology, emerging technologies, and industry fundamentals and trends.

- Ability to manage diverse partner relationships and expectations.

- Ability to work with C level contacts in a partner relationship.

- Ability to work with a large, diverse channel sales team.

- Strong business, technical, and marketing fundamentals.

- Strong marketing fundamentals including external product launch activities, online advertising, PR strategies, e-mail marketing, event management and demand generation.

- The ability to indirectly manage resources towards marketing milestones and goals.

- Demonstrated written communication skills - white papers, brochures, direct marketing.

- Excellent verbal communication skills with experience presenting ideas to senior management and customers in intimate and large venues.

- Strong analytic skills - ability to research an analyze market trends and synthesize results into actionable plans.

- Familiarity with the filmed and broadcast entertainment ecosystem including content management, encoding, transcoding, publishing, content protection advertising, mobile, security and distribution.

- Understanding of the video technology landscape including major formats, key features and emerging video technology.

- Competent in PowerPoint, Word and Excel.
