Overview:

Penske Media Corporation ( Ranked #49 on Comscore with leading content brands such as; Variety, Deadline, Hollywood Life, TVLine, Movieline, ENTV, BGR and more) is looking for a multi-talented SEO manager to work with content creators, editors, product managers and engineers across the entire portfolio of our online properties to produce the SEO strategy and provide SEO guidance.

The primary goal of this position will be to strategically leverage organic search techniques for news publishers to drive relevant traffic to our sites. This position will work closely with engineering, editorial and business strategy teams to enhance site functionality, content creation and product strategy pertaining to search.

Responsibilities:

Editorial

• Work closely with PMC content creators to maximize the search traffic potential for each piece of content.

• Educate and provide regular feedback on headlines, keyword density, image tags, meta, title tags, URL structure, keyword analysis and related aspects

• Provide recommendations to editorial teams related to keyword and content trends, performance of specific pieces of content

• Work in real time to optimize breaking news stories in a highly competitive industry

Technical

• Analysis and implementation of best practices for on-site SEO including; site maps and architecture, Google webmaster tools, clean up of 404s, duplicate content, missing meta, via industry tools and services, etc.

• Interacting with engineering team and product team to provide problem solving skills, prioritized recommendations that will help impact the business and improve rankings and site authority.

• Stay abreast of notable search product updates, changes to Google algorithm, related industry trends and techniques

• Manage SEO strategy around web, mobile and video development efforts.

Product

• Collaborate with product and business teams to propose new products, changes to existing site structures and content offerings to further maximize search traffic potential

• Focus on celebrity ‘profile pages', syndication of content, archived content, video, etc.

• Provide SEO feedback during development of new products and site features.

• Document SEO guidelines and provide internal training to organizations to keep the latest SEO techniques top of mind.

Traffic

• Develop link strategies and/or direct marketing relationships with off-network sites.

• Provide ongoing reports to executive management related to search traffic and keyword performance, ROI, website traffic levels and customer acquisition

• Find new opportunities to maximize SERP for groups of strategic keywords

Qualifications:

• Demonstrated excellence of current trends and techniques within content publishing & breaking news. SEO experience for news & content publishing is a MUST!

• Minimum 4 years of SEO related work experience.

• Demonstrated results increasing site rankings and search traffic

• Extensive experience with SEO analysis pertaining to keywords, trends and performance

• A firm understanding of interactive marketing models and online media in general

• Demonstrated success with increasing organic referral growth

• Strong knowledge in Internet and web development technologies: HTML, XHTML, Java, CSS, Flash, ASP, PHP, etc.

• Expertise in assorted SEO concepts and tactics- interact with senior engineering staff.

• Ability to reverse engineer Google, Yahoo, MSN, Ask search algorithms

• Self-motivated individual who is driven towards continual improvement of projects

• Must have good communication skills

• Must be detailed orientated with ability to multi-task in an ever changing environment

• Analytically focused with the ability to recommend and implement optimization from review of performance data.
