Risk Infrastructure India provides second line risk management support to RBS Risk functional areas including Credit Risk, Market Risk, COO, Operational Risk and Regulatory Risk. It performs a key role in the Risk global operating model and has extensive interaction with other front to back teams in RBS trading hubs, processing centres and branches. The division established in Q3, 2011 would employ c250 employees providing services to global risk functions in EMEA, APAC and North America. There are further plans of expanding this business unit to perform additional risk activities for newly formed divisions of the bank, plus Risk Infrastructure and Enterprise risk management

JOB PURPOSE

You will be required to provide leadership for a team of MI Specialists, Developers, and Analysts, making a significant contribution to the delivery of Credit MI Reporting and Analytics projects. This involves, but is not limited to providing expert technical challenge and direction to the team whilst developing their skills and effectiveness through pro-active coaching. You will also be responsible to manage the delivery of all activities performed by your team, and provide local line management to them. You will have strong analytical skills, able to analyse correlated information sources providing high quality insights and recommendations. If successful, the opportunity exists to grow the provision of risk services across multiple risk divisions for Ulster Bank.

SLA & Quality

Ensure the team has documented processes, defined process maps and contingency plans.

Review & ensure delivery as per agreed SLAs

Action planning to incorporate feedback on SLAs

Lead process engineering to improve SLAs and operational performanceusing principles of continuous improvement

People – Engagement and attrition; Capability and utilization

Manage all day to day activities of the team working with your direct reports and resolving issues and roadblocks for them

Provide technical and functional guidance to the team  in collaboration with the onshore risk teams

Drive employee engagement process by advocating and supporting rewards and recognition program in the team.

Organise and lead weekly team huddles to discuss operational issues, project issues and expediting and knowledge sharing

Coach and mentorTeam Leads and groom Senior Analyst for Team Lead roles.

Handle employee issues/ conflicts and grievances.

Manage team performance by reviewing work output, providing feedback and conducting appraisals

Support learning process by conducting training need analysis and reviewing impact of training

Work on upskilling the team via conducting workshops and trainings in conjunction with Learning and Development team

Managing  the career progression for MI Specialists, MI Senior Specialists, MI Developers, Analysts, Team Leads  within the team

Part of extended management team of Ulster Retail Credit risk and extended leadership team of Risk Infrastructure India to provide your views, inputs and drive cross functionalinitiatives as agreed.

Budget / Cost Management.

Monitor budgets closely across assigned teams in Ulster Risk teams. Take corrective action for any breaches and deviations and productivity enhancement to reduce costs.

Monitor and control operational expenses in line with budgets set for the department. Escalate in time-bound manner if there is a case for deviation.

Drive cost containment by exploring savings opportunities, developing cost reduction projects and implementing the same.

Works on details and provides inputs for annual budgeting exercise – Headcount estimates, Third Party Data Sources, Capex / other resource estimates

Business Development / Expansion

Collaborate with Ulster risk management teams to identify opportunites for Rightshoring additional activities for the team and develop/expand the team to set these activites.

Risk, Compliance & Control

Ensure all key risk parameters are green. A clear risk focus with AYIC status as Green as well as Audit results with NIL/insignificant findings, being key outcomes.

Ensure compliance of self and team against ORAP (Operational risk assessment plan), Information risk and data security, Business continuity plan, ISO,  Security, External regulatory, Group policy of RBS, AYIC  requirements by:

Interpreting the policies and applicability for team

Doing floor-talks on above policies

Drafting preliminary documentation required against above standards.

Driving implementation of corrective and preventive actions process emanating out of breach of any of the above compliance processes.

Customer Experience and satisfaction

Actively increase involvement in stakeholderengagement activities by undertaking periodical review / meetings (structured / random)

Manage diverse stakeholders from data management to high end research, managers to COO’s.

Review Stakeholder feedback, work on improvement plans emanating out of stakeholder satisfaction survey, drive and execute projects to achieve improvement goals.

Provide candid and timely feedback from team to the stakeholders and drive resolutions and improvements.

Manage Project pipeline and review pipeline with onshore team on a monthly basis. Provide monthly MIS to onshore Project Manager

Engage with Stakeholders in line with the agreed Client Engagement Model to review progress on work delivery, quality, agreement on timelines, review of Corrective and Preventive actions

Conduct Quarterly Business (Service) review with the onshore stakeholders (QBRs)

Present Team metrics in monthly RSI review.

Engage with clients, current and potential to seek opportunity for additional areas (Business Verticals / Tasks) that can be supported.

Actively engage in building relationship with clients, peer departments, other business units and stakeholders

Contribute in migrating / setting up new processes and ensure that stakeholder expectations in the same are met.

Engage with stakeholders to build and drive robust e-sourcing framework.

Reconcile and provide explanation and details of break-up of the invoice submitted to stakeholders. Provide early warning signalon deviations in budgets. Support the budget governance process in terms of discretionary spend such as travel, stationery etc.

Responsibility for delivery of a large BAU pipeline of work within MI and Analytics space.

Manage the design, build, test and delivery of all BAU and project deliverables in a timely manner  to highest levels of quality

Managing and co-ordinating with onshore teams based in UK & Ireland especially around prioritisation of pipeline

Leading requirements gathering / analysis workshop sessions to support solution design and delivery and subsequently managing solution design activities within the teams

The team size can vary depending on the unit and the current level of engagement.

The role is primarily focused on Ulster Bank Retail Credit risk function, but with scope to expand to wholesale credit, market risk and other risk stripes in Ulster Bank.

EDUCATIONAL QUALIFICATIONS –

Post Graduate degree in Management, Engineering or Finance disciplines from a reputed institute.

Nice to have – Risk and Finance certifications, e.g. CFA, FRM etc.
