The Division

We are creating a new standalone bank in the UK, supported by its own technology platform, with the potential to be floated on the stock market. The business will be made up of the RBS branches in England and Wales and NatWest Scotland and will be a strong full-service personal, private, SME and corporate bank. This new business, often referred to publicly as ‘Rainbow‘, is expected to divest from the RBS Group shortly after its launch in 2015. It will do things differently from the big high street banks, providing great customer service and playing an active role in local communities. In short, it will be a bank to be proud of – and you can shape its future.

The Requirements

Job Description

By providing expert help and advice on our entire range of mortgage products, you’ll be an essential part of our customers’ journey to securing their new home. You’ll talk to customers one to one, listen to their individual circumstances and requirements and advise them on the products that are most suitable to their needs – all the time helping them understand their options in what can be a complex and sometimes daunting process. Building strong, trusted relationships and providing a professional and thorough service is all part of retaining and growing your customer business, and you’ll also be proactive in following up leads and referrals to develop new business and contacts.

Requirements

As the face of the bank, you’ll have a friendly, helpful and committed approach to every customer, able to build relationships and exceed their expectations throughout the mortgage process. You’ll be a good listener, able to identify exactly what a customer wants and needs, based on their circumstances and use your excellent product knowledge, to offer a mortgage that works for them. Much of your time will be spent meeting customers and processing their mortgage applications, so first-rate organisation skills in maintaining your diary and keeping on top of all of the associated paperwork will be essential. And while we’ll provide a comprehensive training programme when you join us, you’ll also need to bring with you a proven track record in a sales environment and a full CeMAP qualification.

Responsibilities

Keep a full diary of customer meetings and interviews to identify the mortgage product that’s most suited to their needs.

Provide expert help and advice, be an on-going point of contact for any questions and queries and guide your customers through the entire mortgage process.

Build trusted, long lasting relationships with a view to retaining and growing future business.

Be motivated to hit sales targets and have the pro-active nature needed to identify and develop new leads.

This job may be for you if you enjoy:

Giving first-rate customer service and meeting with individuals from all walks of life.

Making a real difference to customers’ lives and guiding them through the complex mortgage process.

Managing your own diary and customer base and developing long-lasting business relationships.

Working to targets and exceeding expectations.

Being in control of your earnings and incentives by working to sales targets.

This job may not be for you if you:

Find it difficult to stay motivated in quiet periods and don’t take a long-term view toward generating business.

Prefer working alone rather than as part of a team or do not enjoy working one-to-one with customers.

Are not a pro-active, self-motivated person who finds it hard to remain enthusiastic no matter what.

The Rewards

Upon joining the team you will receive an attractive reward package of between £21,500 and £32,325 pa. (dependant on experience / location)

You will also have the opportunity to participate in a bonus scheme linked to helping our customers and the success of the business.

The RBS Group is recognised as having one of the most innovative and flexible reward programmes in the financial services sector, which means you can take it all as salary, use to contribute to your pension, or you can select from a range of benefits.

This extensive range of benefits includes discount vouchers for popular high street stores, discounted protection products such as life assurance and private medical cover, as well as childcare vouchers and other attractive options.

Our goal is simple: to become the UK’s most Helpful and Sustainable bank. It’s all about putting the customer at the heart of everything we do, making their lives easier and taking the stress out of banking. We’re in a position to help our customers with everything that’s important to them – from day to day money matters to buying their homes, protecting their families or building their future. And by getting this right, we’re well on track to rebuilding the future of RBS too.

All of this starts with having the right people on our team. People who share our belief that the customer comes first, are driven to go above and beyond what’s expected and who let their enthusiasm shine through every day. People who are always professional in their work, but can engage with customers and talk to them like the individuals that they are.  We want our customers to be confident that they’re making the right choices for themselves and their money, so to do this, we need to offer simple, straightforward help and advice. And by working as a team and making sure we’re getting all of this right, we’ll rebuild RBS into an organisation that everyone can be proud of – where service is everything.

For our people this also means the chance to develop their skills and take their career in many different directions. Whatever you want to do and however you want to learn, we’re here to help you take your career to the next level.

Role will cover Dundee / Aberdeen / Edinburgh franchise.
