Description

Responsible for designing creative, intuitive web sites that meet the needs of the end user while ensuring business and marketing objectives, client goals, and brand strategies are satisfied. Works closely with a multi-disciplinary team (which may include information architect, customer experience analyst, writers, usability specialist, project managers, and other designers as well as with the technical and product strategy teams) in a user centered, iterative development process that ensures a quality customer experience. The UX Designer requires little supervision and is responsible for the on-target, on-time delivery of multiple projects.

Experience

Develops, refines, and implements high quality customer experiences using strong information architecture, visual design, and customer experience skills;

Influences and defines requirements by being a key contributor and advocating for a consistent customer experience and creation of/adherence to guiding principles;

Represents the user in requirements discussions;

Applies visual design, information architecture, and user experience knowledge and expertise to achieve highest quality solution;

Visualizes concepts;

Translates requirements into a visual prototype;

Designs solutions that effectively communicate messages and concepts to users;

Fully understands and is able to articulate project goals, business requirements, user needs, and technical constraints; able to grasp a business problem, see it in terms of user needs, and then design elegant solutions;

Advocates for the user;

Considers the composition of the audience and delivers communication at the appropriate level of detail, (eg, provides high-level "executive summary" or quick project highlights to leadership); provides detailed technical specs to project team.

SKILLS:

5+ years design experience-of which three most recent have been web focused; Highly motivated, creative, and detail oriented; Bachelors or advanced degree in design; Technical skills including: Adobe Photoshop (extensive knowledge), HTML, Cascading Style Sheets (CSS) and JavaScript. HTML5 & CSS3 are preferred; JavaScript frameworks such as jQuery or YUI strongly preferred; Possesses a broad understanding of the Internet and eBusiness services; Analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities; Strong online portfolio of work to demonstrate skills; Success working in a fast-paced and deadline oriented environment; Ability to work effectively on a team or independently, with little direction; Ability to handle multiple tasks under pressure while maintaining flexibility and resourcefulness; Designing for portal based web sites using responsive design concepts strongly preferred; Designing Accessible (WCAG 2.0 compliant) web sites; Excellent visual and user interface (UI) design skills; Strong typography, information design, interactive/web design, conceptual, and communication design skills; Strong presentation & written/verbal communication skills, ability to communicate intangibles; Excellent abilities to visualize, structure, and prototype solutions; Knowledge, use and creation of templates, library items and site definitions.
