About the role:

The SAS Senior Developer role is responsible for developing software applications using sound, repeatable, industry best practices and in accordance with GM's software development project methodology. The SAS Senior Developer will lead the design and development of BI solutions using SAS. Development activities will include configuration updates to existing software and/or developing new programs to address a particular business need. This includes a feasibility review of the development effort for new requirements, identification of risks, and time estimation of development effort. The SAS Senior Developer will obtain a thorough understanding of the infrastructure and configuration of existing SAS environments. In addition to leading and conducting development, migration and testing activities; this role will coach junior developer team members.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

- Bachelor's degree in IT related discipline or equivalent experience

- At least 8 years' experience working in IT software engineering environments leading the development of Business Intelligence solutions including report solutions, adhoc reports and analytical solutions

- Deep experience with the design and development of SAS applications, using SAS Data Integration Studio, SAS DI, ETL , ELT, BASE SAS, SAS Macro, SAS EG, SAS Enterprise

- Performance tuning and optimization expertise

- Administration and Installation knowledge

- Experience in writing Oracle scripts and stored procedures

- Ability to work in a high paced, multiple vendors global environments

- Excellent analytical, problem solving and debugging skills, with strong ability to quickly learn and comprehend business processes and problems in order to effectively develop technical solutions to their requirements

Preferred Qualifications:

- Preferred experience with Agile, Scrum, iterative, or waterfall development and project methodologies

- Preferred experience and familiarity with IT best practices (e.g., CMMI, ISO9000, ITIL, COBIT) and their implications relative to repeatable software development

- Experience in other BI tools such as Cognos, MicroStrategy, Business Objects, Tableau
