PHP Developer Overview:
We are seeking an experienced PHP developer with knowledge of related
web technologies. You will be responsible for many aspects integral to the
development process, including but not limited to database design and
creation, site architecture, programming and testing of web projects.
In this position, you will...
build customized, layered, scaleable web applications, and web projects
utilizing PHP, CSS and HTML, JavaScript ( jQuery library), AJAX, and MVC
frameworks (such as FuelPHP);
maintain, research and add new features to enhance our current code base;
design and setup relational databases (MySQL/Postgres) for web sites and
web applications;
research relevant programming languages/server technologies and be able to
make judgements and recommendations;
research and analyze information security standards, make risk assessments
and use this knowledge to implement appropriate security solutions;
participate in client/project meetings representing the project's technical needs;
you may also assist in the daily operation, maintenance and set up of both
client and BDS web servers, including, but not limited to, installing/upgrading
software packages, setting up new domains and maintaining databases;
occasionally assist in training of clients in small and large scale settings;
juggle multiple projects and shifting priorities in a dynamic environment
Experience:
experience working as creatively and analytically as a developer within a web
team on a variety of web projects from the requirements stage through to the
implementation/launch and evaluation stages;
demonstrated expertise in the planning, development and maintenance of
Internet/Intranet sites, in a responsive design process;
proven ability to work in a collaborative role within a busy inter-disciplinary
team; able to brainstorm, problem solve and discuss web site development
process and related information;
current knowledge and expertise in best-practices adherence to secure coding
techniques, accessibility standards and web-usability;
familiarity with protecting against cross-site scripting attacks, SQL injection,
and other security vulnerabilities;
excellent written and verbal communications skills documentation skills - inline
as well as design/database specifications.
Technical:
an excellent understanding of HTML/CSS, JavaScript (jQuery), JSON, Smarty;
XML; PHP 5; MySQL, Bootstrap, S/FTP, SCP, SSH, Linux, Apache 2; and FuelPHP;
extensive objectooriented programming experience;
experience with unit testing, creating test cases and version control (Git);
WordPress and Drupal experience is an asset;
experience in a variety of established and emerging open source CMS solutions;
Windows, Ubuntu Linux, and/or Mac operating systems;
experience in mobile technologies such as iOS SDK/Objective C, Android, and
HTML 5/Javascript mobile frameworks such as Sencha and PhoneGap are a
definite asset.
