About the Role

SuccessFactors is seeking Lead Performance Engineers who will be responsible for improving Performance and Scalability of various products that SuccessFactors deliver.

Duties and Responsibilities:

- Partner with Project Management and Development teams, review the functional design specifications of new features that will be coming out in each release, review the existing performance issues, and provide guidance on how to improve performance

- Analyze profiling result and performance test result and provide suggestions to development teams on the next steps

- Enforce Performance best practices as an integrated step during the product development life cycle.

- Keep track of Performance metrics of SuccessFactors' application and communicate that to senior management and across all teams

- Work with Customer Success and Provisioning Services teams to help them with performance trouble shooting, tuning and resolving performance issues

- Create and maintain best practices documents for performance coding, system configuration and application configuration

- Work with DCOPS/NOC team to set up monitoring and benchmarking tools on production and performance lab and generate reports regularly

- Work closely with 3rd party vendors to evaluate performance metrics of various technologies

- Handle customer escalations, prioritize initiatives and align them with business goals

- Assist other teams such as Development, Network Operations and Customer Support, as needed

Required Experience and Skills

- Hands-on experience with various Performance and Load Assurance practices and methodologies

- Solid experience with Java or J2EE

- Strong experience with relational databases and ER modeling

- Experience using Load Runner or other load testing tools

- Must have solid knowledge of algorithms and data structures and be able to assess trade-offs between memory vs. CPU vs. I/O vs. database load etc.

- Familiar with system administration, application server config, network config and setup

- Experience working on large deployment of production systems

- Experience with performance Profiling/Tuning/Testing

- Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Engineering (any field) or related

- 5 years of experience as a performance engineer, database architect/administrator, software engineer, or similar (Will accept 3 years of experience with a Master's degree)
