About the Role:

This is a new role, to support a newly-hired President of the SAP Cloud Business Unit. The position is an Executive Communications role to build (quickly) and manage the brand and reputation of the President of our Customer and Suite organization. It requires a consultative mentality and a value-add approach to every interaction. He is seeking a true communications partner.

The role will manage his engagement offline and online with key constituents and to establish a thought leadership platform to establish his credibility in his role leading the Customer & Suite business, as well as to map to SAP Cloud's broader sales and marketing objectives. The role involves both internal and external communications, writing, messaging, presentation development, crafting speeches, and managing social media engagement. The position will work directly with the President on a daily basis, including potential travel. It also will involve close interaction with the company's VP of Corporate Communications and the broader CCCM - Corporate Communications and Customer Marketing team (for the purposes of collaboration and alignment with the broader Corporate Communications program.)

Duties and Responsibilities:

The position requires demonstrated experience in delivering high-quality Executive level communications, with a strong bent towards storytelling, social engagement, constituency building and customer-centric Executive Communications. The ideal candidate will have worked in a start up environment and possess an entrepreneurial attitude, creativity, passion and an ability to deliver a program that punches above the weight of business maturity.

The Executive Communications Director will develop and propose the strategic direction of the President's platform, form the program and execute the program -- soups to nuts. The goals of this program are: awareness, credibility and relevancy.

She/he works closely with the CCCM team to ensure clear and concise messaging that aligns to company goals. The outcome will be establishing the right Executive brand and reputation that ultimately builds respect and trust with all key constituent audiences. Examples of such constituents include: customers, partners, influencers, SAP Board and sales Executive staff, peers, team, employees and the industry at large.

This position requires extensive cross-group coordination at all levels, experience working with senior management, superior organization, written and verbal communication skills, and the ability to think strategically and drive compelling messaging, presentations, and speeches. In addition to offline communications, online communications and constituency engagement (influencers, as example) for the President, is key.

The Executive Communications Director must also possess the maturity to respond to changing demands, responsibilities and deadlines while maintaining composure and meeting expectations. He/she must be detail and process-oriented, and effective at engaging and influencing.

Specific Duties Include:

- Manage all aspects of executive speaking platforms including messaging pillars, activity schedules, identifying key arenas for communication, battles to win, constituents to win over.

- Manage weekly and monthly leadership and org meetings for the President.

- Build messages and a storytelling approach to drive high visibility for the President across the industry.

- Pitch, place and manage stories that amplify The President's POV -- in his leadership role.

- Write– blogs, Op-ed pieces, POVs, contributed articles and commentary.

- Manage social communications. Extensive engagement in social communities internally and externally.

- Internal communications – build a cadence of leadership communications to the President's organization, as well as to broader SAP Cloud, to SAP, the Board, sales leadership, etc.

- Develop and create presentations and scripts used by The President, aligned with the overall communication strategy.

- Oversee the development of and/or build compelling PowerPoint presentations.

- Develop speeches from start to finish including all creative elements such as videos, demos, etc. to reinforce key messages and story tell to targeted audiences.

- Work directly with The President to prepare him for delivery of a story, messaging internally (sales force) or externally to industry, media, at events, etc.

- Work effectively within all levels of the organization, from Executives to individual contributors.

- Strong project management and cross-group collaboration skills, demonstrating the ability to plan and drive for results and hit deadlines while working with diverse groups within the organization.

- Expert tools knowledge and technical skills working with prezi, Webex, videos and other communications applications. *Digital communications background is an asset.

Required Skills and Experience:

- Experience with developing and implementing complex communication strategies and plans

- Executive reputation building experience

- Demonstrated experience in enterprise collaboration, social media engagement (vs. just presence).

- Experience managing intranet content; familiarity with social media; SharePoint experience highly preferred

- Ability to collaborate with stakeholders at all levels of the organization, including leaders and managers

- Partner with other corporate functions, such as marketing, corporate and customer communications, sales, customer support, etc. to align messaging platform

- Must be able to think strategically within the ‘big picture' framework of the company, while also finding innovative ways to build brand around

- Ability to quickly grasp complex subject matter and translate it into messaging that is easily understood by constituency at all levels; ability to determine which information is appropriate for which audiences and for which channels

- Self-starter, detail-oriented, proactive, able to work independently as well as in teams

- Ability to work well under pressure and tight deadlines

- Innovation and creativity

- Awareness and sensitivity to cultural considerations in countries where the Cloud Business Unit has a large presence (Germany, the U.S., India)

- Excellent writing and editing skills (AP style preferred)

- Strong communicator – written and oral -- is a must!

- BA or higher in communications or business
