Reporting to the President & CEO of Mackenzie Health, the Chief, Communications and Public Affairs is a key member of the Senior Leadership Team and is responsible for setting the strategic direction for Communications and Public Affairs for both Mackenzie Health & Mackenzie Health Foundation. An important contributor to the implementation of the Mackenzie Health strategy, Mackenzie Health Foundation strategy and business plans, the Chief is responsible for the development and implementation of comprehensive and integrated communication strategies in support of the mission, vision, values and strategic priorities of both organizations. The Chief provides leadership on all aspects of internal and external communications including brand management, media relations, stakeholder engagement and social media strategies. Responsible for brand oversight, the Chief will lead innovative strategies to guide the organization through its journey to a two-site hospital model and position it for long-term success.  The Chief will be instrumental in leading strategic communications for the Foundation 250 million dollar capital campaign.

With a minumum 5 years’ experience in a senior corporate role, preferably within a health care or complex not-for-profit environment, the successful candidate will posses a proven ability to develop strategic communication plans and execute tactical plans. With demonstrated expertise in media relations, issues management, strategic and tactical communications, and publications, the new Chief will have the ability to work effectively with media, the community and other key stakeholder groups. Ideally, a Masters degree in communications, public relations, journalism or business, and accreditation with the International Association of Business Communications (IABC) or The Health Care Public Relations Association (HCPRA) is preferred.
