The Canadian Hearing Society (“CHS”), is a non-for-profit organization dedicated to providing high-quality services and products to businesses, organizations and the Deaf and hard of hearing communities in Canada. CHS is seeking an experienced Director for its Counselling Services.  In this strategic position, you will lead a team of Professionals in Mental Health and Hearing Care Counselling serving the CHS client population across Ontario. You will oversee all aspects of the CHS Counselling Services from strategic development to daily operations delivering quality services against targets from the funders. Your work will propel the CHS Counselling Services to a recognized leadership position in the field striving for mastery and excellence in service delivery.

POSITION SUMMARY

As the Director, Counselling Services, you provide leadership and oversee all aspects of three counselling services namely:

CONNECT Mental Health Counselling Services (CONNECT)

Hearing Care Counselling Services (HCCP)

General Support Services (GSS)

Leading a professional management team and front line staff decentralized in 24 locations across Ontario, you are responsible for the strategic alignment of the program with the direction of the overall organisation.  Your vision is instrumental in deciding the future growth and expansion of the Counselling Services provincially and eventually nationally.

You are a champion for evidence-based and best practices, quality and professional standards of practice, program development and evaluation.  You will lead with efficiency and effectiveness the day to day operations maximising human and financial resources to the benefit of the clients.

You are a seasoned leader who can develop partnerships with the funders across the province such as LHINs, United Way, and Municipality etc. to foster excellence in services within a financially constraining environment.   You are accountable for the effective realization of contracts requirements with funders ensuring the achievement of service standards and financial targets.

You will lead in an inspiring way and foster a culture of innovation and inquiry.  You are a builder, passionate about transformational change. A change agent who can lead its staff through the development of foundational activities while striving for innovation and greater service impact.

You are a clinician with business acumen who leads by example balancing the demands of service delivery and professional practice with the rigour of resource utilization, business planning and performance accountability.

Finally, you are an ambassador for the Deaf and hard of hearing Communities and take pride in serving CHS population.

QUALIFICATIONS

Master Degree in Clinical Social Work or Clinical Psychology.

Professional registration/ license with the Ontario College of Social Workers or the Ontario College of Psychologists.

7+ years demonstrated success in a significant leadership position in the health care and/ or community sector.

Knowledge of the challenges associated with Mental Health issues, independent living philosophy and community integration.

Ability to challenge the status quo, drive innovative thinking and provide superior leadership to inspire staff to deliver results.

Demonstrated analytical ability and judgment to utilize fact-based decision making to inform excellence in service delivery.

Demonstrated experience with project management tools, program development and evaluation.

Excellent organizational, interpersonal and communication skills.

Excellent people development and coaching skills within a professional unionized environment.

Outstanding ability to respond to shifting priorities, multi-tasking and meet deadlines.

Proficiency in MS Office Suite, Internet, Outlook, Client Data Management System, Decision support software.

Fluency in American Sign Language (ASL) of willingness to learn.

Travel as required in Ontario, valid driver license and access to vehicle

Evenings and weekends as required.

CHS offers a competitive compensation package commensurate with experience.
