Alert Bay, British Columbia Island Health - Vancouver Island Health Authority
Island Health is looking for a number of full-time registered nurses for the Cormorant Island Health Centre in Alert Bay, northern Vancouver Island.
Alert Bay has a population of approximately 1200-1500, is the oldest community on northern Vancouver Island, and has been the traditional home of the Namgis First Nation for several thousand years. Alert Bay is easily accessible by a scenic 45 minute ferry ride from Port McNeill and the small, picturesque fishing village of Sointula on Malcolm Island. Ferry service runs continuously between Port McNeill, Sointula and Alert Bay 7 days a week.

At the bright and modern Cormorant Island Health Centre, built in 2002, services include: Emergency Department, Acute Care, Residential Care, Medical Detox, Ambulatory Outpatient Services, Laboratory, X-Ray, Palliative Care, and Emergency Obstetrics.

Job Summary
The Registered Nurse provides professional nursing care to clients as a member of a multidisciplinary team; is responsible and accountable for coordinating and administering direct client care utilizing the nursing process; provides direction to staff and volunteers; and responds to emergency situations to safeguard clients, visitors and staff.
Qualifications
Ideally you have up to 2 years’ similar experience, along with your Current practicing registration with the College of Registered Nurses of British Columbia (CRNBC). Advanced Cardiac Life Support for Emergency Room, ICU and Critical Care preferred.
