Manager of Human Resources

The South Bruce Grey Health Centre (SBGHC) serves a community of approximately 44,000 people, plus 10,000 seasonal residents and 30,000 tourists across four rural hospital sites located in Kincardine, Walkerton, Chesley and Durham. Our staff of approximately 400 works at these facilities, all of which offer 24-hour emergency care.  Other services include acute, coronary care, obstetrical, surgical and full range of diagnostic and ambulatory care services.

The SBGHC is seeking a dynamic and innovative individual to actively participate in the development and integration of HR services for SBGHC and GBHS.   Reporting to the CEO of SBGHC and to the Chief Human Resources Officer at the Grey Bruce Health Services, the Manager of Human Resources is a key member of the management team.   The successful candidate will not only provide support for a broad range of Human Resource services, but also provides oversight to the areas of Occupational Health and Safety, and the Volunteer program.

The preferred candidate will possess the following:

University degree in Human Resources and/or Labour/Industrial Relations

CHRL designation required

Minimum of 5 years’ experience in human resources management, preferably in healthcare

Broad unionized and non-unionized human resources and labour relations experience

Previous management experience including skills in budgeting, performance management, quality improvements and supervising individuals in multi-disciplinary teams

Excellent interpersonal and well developed communication skills

Innovative, collaborative, and team oriented

Exposure to small, rural, multi site organizations is an asset

Ability to foster a positive work environment

Knowledge of hospital organizational structures, knowledge of healthcare legislation and a sound understanding of administrative principles, e.g. finance, budget, leadership and management principles

Demonstrated computer literacy with high level competence in Microsoft Word and Excel applications, Email and Internet Explorer.

Current driver’s license and availability of a vehicle for travel
