William Osler is Ontario's largest community hospital serving the diverse and growing communities of Etobicoke, Brampton and surrounding regions of the Central West Local Health Integration Network.   As a regional referral center, Osler provides programs and services to nearly one million area residents. Incorporated in 1998, Osler has three unique sites, each providing a wide range of services:

Brampton Civic Hospital provides Osler's most complex and seriously ill or injured patients through a mix of inpatient and outpatient services.

Etobicoke General Hospital is a traditional community hospital that provides all aspects of care from emergency care to surgery and specialist visits. Etobicoke General is currently undergoing a $4.2 million renovation that is planned to prepare for a new four story wing to meet the growing demands of our surrounding community.

Peel Memorial Centre for Integrated Health and Wellness, targeted to open in 2016, will provide urgent and emergency care; day surgery and wellness clinics.

Position Summary

Reporting to the Director, Women’s, Children’s and Senior’s Program, the Patient Care Manager, Women’s and Children’s Healthcare is responsible for ensuring the delivery of safe, efficient and patient centered care.

Working in close collaboration with the Program Medical Leadership and other members of the Osler team, the successful candidate will provide exceptional leadership to the program. This position oversees the management of a multidisciplinary team focused on enhancing the patient experience.  This is corporate position with oversight primarily for Etobicoke General Hospital.

The Patient Care Manager is accountable for the following:

Developing and implementing the clinical service, functional and strategic plans for the department in collaborating with the broader program leadership team;

Identifying the required the organizational supports and structures for safe and efficient operation for the department;

Enhancing the community linkages to support patients and their families;

Establishing a professional practice climate that encourages a multi-disciplinary approach to patient care;

Ensuring that patient care is provided according to professional practice and corporate standards;

Manage all aspects of employee relations including: human resource planning; recruitment, performance management; coaching/mentoring and professional development.

Actively supporting the development of new innovative programs and engagement initiatives;

Effectively managing the financial, human, physical space and equipment of the departments in alignment with Osler’s strategic plans;

Developing effective processes for selecting, evaluating and maintaining material/equipment needed for enhancing patient care;

Developing and maintaining effective interdepartmental relationships and team-focused culture; and

Identifying initiatives and opportunity to continuously improve the patient and family experience at Osler.

May be reassigned to BCH or new Peel Memorial Hospital to meet operational needs

Qualifications:

Health Discipline Professional designation and Undergraduate Degree required; Masters preferred.

Minimum of five (5) years recent leadership experience coupled with a strong clinical background in Women’s and Children’s Healthcare Services.

Demonstrated ability to establish effective interpersonal relationships and collaboration with interdisciplinary teams and external regional partners

Effective leadership skills with the proven ability to develop strong teams.

Strong project management skills and a demonstrated ability to effectively plan and implement new initiatives.

Ability to manage multiple competing priorities in a fast-paced environment.

Excellent problem solving and change management skills.

Excellent oral, interpersonal, and written communication skills.

Ability to travel between campuses.
