Summary

Responsible for the leadership and management of Ecova's billing, technical research/accounting and contract review/revenue recognition functions. Assist in production of all revenue related financial statements ensuring financial reporting is timely, accurate and complete, as well as in compliance with the requirements of US GAAP and SEC Regulations.

Role Responsibilities:

• Responsible for overall management of the following areas: client billing, Revenue recognition & accounting, and contract review.

• Ensures integrity and accuracy of client invoices including timely invoices

• Prepares analysis and submit monthly, quarterly and annual revenue reports to management.

• Oversees and provides guidance to billing team for interpretation of contract terms and conditions.

• Responsible for coordination with Tax department for ensuring Sales tax is accurately reflected on all client invoices.

• Key stakeholder with Operations, Sales & Marketing, IT and Legal for ensuring fact based decisions are made surrounding the technical accounting treatments required in the areas of revenue recognition. Coordinates the positive resolution of any issues that arise during communications.

• Assists with establishing and maintaining the organization's accounting principles, practices, and processes.

• Manages the review of client contracts emphasizing revenue recognition.

• Coordinates with Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A) to provide support as needed.

• Aids in driving process improvements and system implementations related to client invoicing and revenue recognition.

• Fosters strong partnerships with other departments as well as external clients.

• Promotes leadership development, and act as a mentor for the team. Promotes leadership qualities that support seamless communication and teamwork, in the pursuit of establishing a cohesive culture.

• Assists in the development of and responsible for the monitoring of goals and objectives specific to the revenue recognition and assurance team performance.

• Fosters and supports a spirit of teamwork to build employee commitment and enthusiasm for the success of the team and our business. Works with employees to improve performance, provides ongoing feedback, and develops plans with employees to identify career development opportunities.

• Supervises the administrative and human resources needs of the team: approving timecards for payroll, schedules and leave requests. Regarded as first level escalation point for assigned teammembers with respect to inter/intra-team issues of minor complexity. Escalates significantly complex issues for resolution to department Manager.

Role Competencies:

• A bachelor's degree in accounting or business, CPA preferred.

• Minimum of 5 years related accounting and revenue/customer support experience.

• Comprehensive knowledge & practical experience in accounting practices including an understanding US GAAP and IFRS.

• Public accounting or relevant experience as Senior Accountant is required.

• Experience in technical research and implementation of complex revenue recognition is required.

• Ability to lead and direct work of others.

• Ability to make sound business decisions with minimal supervision and have high degree of self-direction.

• Must possess and demonstrate a high degree of integrity.

• Skilled in Microsoft Office with advanced Excel skills.

• Commitment to continuous improvement.

• Independent worker with good decision making skills, which includes knowing when to seek expert assistance.

• Strong communication, analytical and organization skills.

• Experience with establishing and maintaining effective work relationships.

• Ability to effectively cope with change and multi-task

• Possess the ability to self-motivate and take initiative with minimal supervision.

• Must be organized, detail oriented and able to efficiently function under pressure and produce detailed, error-free work within limited timeframes.
