About:

Southern California Edison's (SCE's) Transmission and Distribution Organizational Unit (T & D) is responsible for planning, engineering, constructing, operating, and maintaining transmission and distribution facilities throughout the 50,000-square-mile territory. T&D is the steward of roughly $19 billion in assets that safely and reliably deliver electricity to 14 million residents via SCE's 4.9 million customer accounts.

Position Overview:

The Field General Supervisor will report to the District Manager and is directly responsible for the supervision of multiple crews performing construction and maintenance activities. The successful candidate is expected to ensure that all aspects directly related to the construction and maintenance activities are optimized, including: resource utilization, crew productivity, safe work practices and compliance to customer communications protocol. The position is also responsible for meeting established goals as they relate directly to Distribution Construction and Maintenance.

Typical responsibilities include: ensuring appropriate training of subordinates, including career development; administering recognition and discipline; interfacing with subordinates, peers, and management regarding daily work activities; facilitating the availability of proper resources, tools, vehicles, materials and other equipment and the necessary training conducive to providing a safe working environment; conducting performance reviews, developing performance expectations, and providing developmental feedback and training-to Electrical Crew Foremen; assuring accurate timekeeping/accounting (i.e., employee time off); assuring quality and timeliness of completed work order packages; performing frequent crew visitations and documenting safety information; assuring all safety bulletin/issues are understood and complied with; assuring weekly safety meetings are timely and of quality content; meeting scheduled project and customer dates established through the Regional Resource Planning and the District Scheduling groups; approving switching procedures; verifying circuit map accuracy and timely updates; timely assignment of crews on outages through the SRO process; maintaining a safety conscious work environment by following Edison safety protocols and safe work practices; and performing other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Job Requirements:

•Must have supervisory and/or team leadership experience.

•Must have experience in the design, operation and/or construction and maintenance of the electric system.

•Associate Degree or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.

•Typically possesses five or more years combined experience performing and/or supervising activities related to the design, construction and maintenance, and/or scheduling activities associated with the electric distribution system.

•Demonstrated understanding of the underground and overhead construction, maintenance and operation of the electrical distribution system and associated regulatory requirements, including environmental regulations, safety policies and procedures, and hazardous waste management.

•Demonstrated experience working with bargaining unit employees.

•Demonstrated experience with the application of union agreement and handling labor relations and diversity issues.

•Demonstrated experience with environmental compliance, safe work practices, construction/maintenance methods, techniques, tools and equipment.

•Demonstrated knowledge of distribution accounting, including timekeeping, accounting and completion of work order packages.

•Demonstrated thorough knowledge of GO 95, 128, 165, and Accident Prevention Manual safety rules.

•Demonstrated ability to follow Edison safety protocols and safe work practices.

•Demonstrated ability to accurately analyze information, make sound decisions that have moderate to significant business impact and develop and implement strategies.

•Demonstrated ability to achieve results through others by prioritizing activities, delegating and monitoring the progress of assignments, and holding employees accountable for results.

•Must demonstrate excellent business mastery, including the ability to integrate work across relevant areas, develop the business and services to enhance customer satisfaction and productivity, manage risks and safety appropriately, manage information, and provide exceptional service to internal and external customers.

•Must demonstrate excellent management mastery, including effective resource and project planning, decision making, results delivery, team building, and staying current with relevant technology and innovation.

•Must demonstrate strong personal mastery, including ethics, influence and negotiation, leadership, interpersonal skills, communication, the ability to effectively manage stress and engage in continuous learning.

Preferences:

•Demonstrated proficiency in computer applications: such as Excel, Word and Lotus Notes and Document Libraries.

•Experience as a Planner in the Planning Organization.
