ABOUT:

The Major Projects Organization (MPO) manages the development and execution of electric utility grid projects. These projects include large linear transmission line projects and substations required to meet the California renewable energy standards. MPO supports licensing approvals from state and federal agencies, and directs siting, preliminary engineering, cost estimation, final design, procurement, bid evaluation, as well as construction, while meeting applicable regulatory requirements (including safety, quality, and environment) and our responsibility to the community with budgetary and schedule constraints.

POSITION OVERVIEW:

This position will be in the Major Projects Organization (MPO) within Southern California Edison's (SCE) Transmission and Distribution Business Unit (TDBU). The successful candidate will plan, organize, monitor and oversee the development, implementation, and maintenance of the MPO Earned Value Management System by driving the schedule and budget standardization and integration of Enterprise Cost and Scheduling Systems, and adherence to project management controls across major projects.

Responsibilities will include: creating and implementing an Earned Value Management System which is a high-visibility corporate initiative. The implementation will entail designing, developing, integrating and scheduling, cost data from independent systems including SAP, Primavera, and PowerPlant to create an integrated Earn Value System.

Typical responsibilities include creating and managing multi-disciplined, cross functional teams comprised of internal and external members such as contractors, vendors, 3rd parties, and regulatory agencies; implementing reporting methodologies and metrics that drive accountability for Earned Value Management, schedule and budget performance; presenting to SCE's senior executive management on the maturity of the MPO Earn Value Management System and health of selected major projects; leading meetings; applying Critical Path Management (CPM); reviewing industry documents; performing evaluations on issues that have major impact on SCE; educating management on earn value; standardizing processes and project performance metrics; and performing other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

•Bachelor Degree in Business Administration, Engineering, Finance, and Economics, or related discipline, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.

•Must possess a minimum of three years of experience managing/implementing earn value management systems.

•Typically possesses seven years of experience managing multiple projects of approximately $100M in a project development and construction environment using critical path management methodologies and/or project accounting.

•Typically possesses two years of experience supervising schedulers and/or project controls personnel.

•Experience managing and mitigating project risks related to finances, contracts, and compliance requirements.

•Experience developing and implementing project plans that have a large impact on the organization, and facilitating forums to capture the stakeholder requirements.

•Experience working with contractors, suppliers, regulatory agencies, and customers.

•Experience applying CPM scheduling to complex construction environments with schedule feeds from multiple subcontractors.

•Experience creating construction contract specifications that describe 3rd party earned value flow down such as required level of cost loading.

•Experience implementing software solutions that integrate data from disparate enterprise-level software systems including familiarity creating functional design specifications for interface software.

•Ability to adapt industry standards on earned value management to less sophisticated implementation.

•Experience delivering high-level presentations to executives, officers, senior managers, and other client organizations.

•Experience extracting cost information from Enterprise Resource Programs (ERP) such as SAP.

•Demonstrated experience using Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, Visio, and Project Management Tools.

•Demonstrated ability to follow Edison safety protocols and safe work practices and an ability to create and maintain a safety conscious work environment.

•Must demonstrate the ability to integrate work across relevant areas, develop the business and services to enhance customer satisfaction and productivity, manage risks appropriately, develop and execute business plans, manage information, and provide exceptional service to internal and external customers.

•Must demonstrate effective resource and project planning, decision making, results delivery, team building, and the ability to stay current with relevant technology and innovation.

•Must demonstrate strong ethics, influence and negotiation, leadership, interpersonal skills, communication, and the ability to effectively manage stress and engage in continuous learning.
