CASE MANAGER: RESOURCES

Summary: The Case Manager: Resources position is responsible for developing and facilitating Career-Readiness Training , partner Lifeskills classes, and providing intensive post-program support and follow-up. The position is also responsible for managing the community resource needs of Corpsmembers across the agency, both on a group and individual basis. Reports to the Career Developer and the Senior Program Manager: YouthBuild (depending on area of focus).

Essential Duties

Corpsmember Development & Education

• Promote individual learning and personal growth among Corpsmembers. Provide effective feedback and reflection to help to facilitate this growth individually and as a team.

• Participate and help supervise community service projects and teambuilding activities.

• Support and encourage Corpsmember participation and progress in the YouthBuild program overall by participating in the integration of curriculum across all program components (GED education, career readiness training, construction training, leadership development, etc.)

• Assist with recruiting, interviewing and hiring Corpsmembers.

• Attend relevant staff development trainings.

• Act as a positive role model to all Corpsmembers and promote a positive corps culture.

• Enforce the code of conduct, discipline policies and program procedures outlined in the Employee Handbook and in conjunction with various YouthBuild grant guidelines. Implement and follow-through with rewards and consequences as appropriate.

• Facilitate a mentor group within YouthBuild on a weekly and monthly basis according to the YouthBuild mentorship program.

• Manage a caseload of assigned Corpsmembers across the agency, meeting regularly depend on program expectations and guidelines.

Corpsmember Transition, Follow-up, and Placement

• Oversee and implement the Career-Readiness Training curriculum for the Land, Energy, and Water Conservation Corpsmembers.

• Fulfill placement goals and objectives that meet the needs of funding sources, the programs, and the agency as a whole for the Land Conservation, Energy Conservation, and Water Conservation Corpsmembers.

• Develop strategies for Corpsmembers' successful transition out of the corps and for post-program job development, training, and education opportunities.

Lifeskills and Resource Management

• Developrelationships with Corpsmembers, including an understanding of their outside supports, to identify resource needs.

• Meet individually with all YouthBuild Corpsmembers, and other participants across the agency and needed to proactively identify and manage issues and/or resource needs that arise with Corpsmembers. Connect Corpsmembers with community agencies and resources for the most effective service delivery possible.

• Manage the expansion of a resource library of community resources, local non-profits and the supportive services available, as well as educational and training programs, internships, and other post-program opportunities for Corpsmembers.

• Work closely with the Senior Program Manager: YouthBuild to develop and implement the YouthBuild Lifeskills curriculum by facilitating courses and finding relevant community partners to address program needs.

• Maintain appropriate relationships with outside supports, including probation and parole officers, other case managers or support service providers to ensure continuity of support.

Liaison with Community Agencies, Educational Institutions and Employers

• Cultivate and develop relationships with local non-profit agencies, community resource providers, educational institutions, workforce development centers and training programs to meet the needs of Corpsmembers.

• Attend community-networking meetings, trainings and open houses related to resources, Corpsmember development and placement. Identify organizations and connections appropriate for increased involvement or placement opportunities for Corpsmembers.

Administrative Duties

• Monitor, document and evaluate Corpsmember progress in the program.

• Maintain complete and accurate records and files for all internal systems from intake through post-program follow up.

• Provide thorough, timely and accurate data entry in various external and funder-driven data systems to track program progress, community partner activities and resource management.

• Report quarterly on activities as assigned in internal and grant-required databases.

• Evaluation: design and implement a thorough tracking system for MHYC Corpsmembers during program participation. Areas to be tracked include post-program placement in education and employment as well as identifying and assisting with ongoing resource needs which create barriers to successful placements.

• Participate in staff, YouthBuild, funder and community meetings.

• Other duties may be assigned.

Program Support

• Maintains clear, proactive communication with all programmatic staff in regards to resource development and utilization.

• Works closely with the Case Management team to ensure maximum benefits and opportunities to link Corpsmembers with educational and employment opportunities.

Qualifications

Education: Four-year college degree in career counseling, education, psychology, sociology or a related field. Significant professional experience in a related field may be substituted for post-secondary education.

Experience:

• Minimum three years working as a case manager, youth development specialist, or a related position with responsibility for managing the documentation for multiple funding streams and oversight of 50+ youth on caseload.

• Minimum one year experience implementing career development workshops or on-the-job training program.

• Experience working directly with, including classroom facilitation with, a diverse youth population; preferably ages 18-24.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

• Strong knowledge of Denver Metro Area, local community organizations, educational and training systems, public agencies and private industry.

• Skills in personnel and job development functions.

• Strong classroom facilitation and interpersonal communication skills.

• Knowledge of education and training placement systems and processes.

• Strong attention to detail and ability to organize tasks and prioritize to meet deadlines.

• Ability to work independently and show strong initiative.

• Ability to work well with others in a team atmosphere.

• Ability to work with people from a wide-variety of backgrounds and experiences.

• Superior presentation ability and interpersonal skills, including excellent speaking and writing skills.

• Bilingual: Spanish/English speaking preferred.

• Proficient in Microsoft products and database management.

• Valid driver's license with an insurable driving record and ability to drive a 12-passenger van.

• Ability to pass pre-employment background check, drug screening and FBI check.

• Ability to legally work in the United States, which will be confirmed by the Federal Government E-Verify system after acceptance of an offer of employment.

Hours & Compensation

This is a full-time regular non-exempt position with benefits. The salary range for this position is $32,000-$35,000 depending on experience. Hours are Monday-Thursday 7:30-4 and Friday 8-4. Some evenings and weekend hours may be required for youth corps related functions.
