Contempo Media is looking for an enthusiastic, experienced internal website and digital specialist to fill a full-time, in-house junior position.
Responsibilities:
- Support day-to-day operations for the company's four websites, working with the writers and Online Editor to support and customize the daily online content.
- Work with our external web, marketing and advertising team to coordinate ongoing maintenance and upgrades as well as overall website strategy.
- Work with custom post types and custom plugins.
- Setup and Load image galleries in NextGen Gallery Tool.
- Familiarity with jQuery framework. The successful applicant should know how to load it correctly and accomplish simple tasks with it (e.g. building a tabbed interface or using a cycle slideshow).
- Respond to staff inquiries regarding website and intranet issues.
- Produce and analyze Google Analytics reports to track website performance.
- Perform miscellaneous duties as assigned.
Qualifications and Requirements:
- Strong WordPress experience
- Strong problem solving and bug tracking skills.
- Ability to write clean, semantic HTML markup, and know CSS like the back of your hand. (Experience with HTML5 CSS 3 Elements preferred.)
- Must be able to build, edit and customize a theme and theme components without using a framework like Hybrid or Genesis.
- Familiarity with NextGen Gallery.
- Be familiar with and able to support custom Wordpress plugins
- Basic knowledge of JQuery framework.
- Strong experience with responsive development (i.e. grid systems, breakpoints, media queries).
- Basic Web Design skills an asset
- Proficiency with design programs like Photoshop and Illustrator
