The Ayn Rand Institute (ARI) is seeking an E-Learning Assistant to work in our Irvine, California, office. This is a full-time position reporting to the Institute's E-Learning Manager.

ARI is a not-for-profit organization that promotes and spreads knowledge of the philosophy of Objectivism via various educational and cultural outreach programs.

The E-Learning Assistant works in the exciting and growing field of e-learning and has the opportunity to contribute ideas on how to present challenging intellectual content in a multimedia format. The focus is on course development for ARI Campus, the Institute's new online education site. The following are some of the key responsibilities:

• Contribute creative ideas on visual/graphic presentation of educational content in a way that accurately represents complex ideas and also respects the student's cognitive processes—for example, illustrating relationships between abstract ideas in philosophy or economics

• Work with curriculum team and production/programming teams to sketch out interactive experiences that will help underscore key concepts and engage students in course content

• Locate educationally impactful images to support development of interactive, multimedia courses by exploring the ARI Archives, stock photo sites, and the public domain

• Take part in a wide variety of interesting and challenging activities to support ARI Campus site and course development

• Develop knowledge and understanding of e-learning field and instructional design, and share findings on best practices and ongoing developments in the field

The ideal candidate will have a basic understanding of Objectivism and be interested in continuing ongoing education in Objectivism and related fields.

Ability to communicate effectively, both in writing and in speaking, and competence in using Microsoft Office suite, especially PowerPoint, are required. A professional demeanor and the ability to handle deadlines and pressure calmly are necessary. The candidate must be able to prioritize while switching between long-range and immediate projects. Organizational skills and attention to detail are important.
