Our client who are global leaders in the innovation, design, manufacture and supply of high quality insulated roof, wall and façade systems for the construction industry. They are looking to recruit a Structural Engineer based from their offices in the North Wales region.
Solar PV integration, purlins, rails and floor deck, controlled environments, fall arrest systems and door systems are also part of their extensive portfolio.
Working as part of the Product Development Department and reporting to the Divisional Product Development Manager you will be responsible for the structural design of new and existing sandwich roof and wall panels, design calculations of new and existing 'through-wall' façade solutions, project structural design calculations and element design with numerous material types including steel, aluminium, ceramics, glass and plastics etc.
You will also be responsible for producing technical documents for submission of design calculations to third party certification bodies and local authorities and assist the R & D team in the design on new architectural wall and façade systems. The role will also include the provision of technical support to all divisional departments including Technical, Commercial and Engineering as required.
The ideal candidate will have a high technical standard in fundamental structural design (steel in particular) as an absolute minimum, experience in cladding design and application is desirable. They will also have a passion for structural engineering in general. We are looking for an excellent communicator who is comfortable presenting their ideas both to internal stakeholders and customers, with proficiency in structural design software and word processing applications. Self-motivation, innovation and a demonstrable holistic approach to design engineering are also pre-requisites.
EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS
A degree qualification in engineering is required.
Demonstrate sound reasoning, engineering judgement and problem solving skills
Ideally a sound knowledge and experience of working on cladding systems, structures, glazing systems etc.
Working knowledge and experience in using Euro codes and British standards
Be aware of the requirement to work as part of a team. Adopt a flexible approach to workload whilst demonstrating a willingness to take on additional work. Deliver administrative records on time and up to date;
Clearly and concisely express key issues at a level that suits the listener and confidently handle challenges or unexpected issues;
Participation in training and social activities inside and outside the working day and office. Contribution to the "character" of the company by conducting yourself in a professional and helpful manner. To develop strong and collaborative working relationships with your colleagues;
Demonstrate you have a working knowledge and skill in using design spread sheets etc.as necessary and the ability to handle data appropriate to your role.
