This client is looking for a Linux engineer/admin who can and has done more than just maintenance on Servers
As a Senior DevOps Engineer the main focus and responsibilities will be to lead efforts around the development, architecture, and stability of the Linux environments in QA, UAT, and production infrastructure. As a senior-level engineer you will be responsible for all of our mission critical services. This is a small team we're looking for a Linux Polyglot: Your focus will shift from project to project and you will become familiar across all areas of our stack.
The websites run on a CentOS environment in Amazon Web Services (AWS) and are primarily written in Java and deployed to Tomcat. We use Puppet for configuration management and we follow an agile approach to infrastructure modifications.
Your initial focus on the job will be as follows:
Implement automated scaleup/scaledown strategies based on various metrics
Work closely with the rest of the engineering staff to move our AWS operation to the next level when it comes to scalability, redundancy, and performance
Drive the culture of "Infrastructure-as-code"
Requirements
2+ years of experience in a Linux systems administration or a DevOps role
Experience building and running a high traffic public facing 24x7 production environment
Experience managing AWS Services, including but not limited to EC2, ELB, S3, EFS VPC
Intimate knowledge of the Linux command line including Shell Scripting
skills that are a plus but not required:
Strong Scripting skills with one or more of the following languages: Ruby, Python, Perl
Experience using Continuous Integration and Continuous Deployment strategy using Puppet and Jenkins
Apache Web Server
Apache Tomcat
Experience implementing application monitoring
Distributed memory caching system such as Redis or Memcached
