Role: Senior Software Engineer (Java Web)

Location: Dublin

This financial institution is one of the largest mutual fund and financial services groups in the world and the technology projects they are working on now are cutting edge and require someone with an innovative approach who likes working in a collaborative environment.

This role is perfect for someone who is very keen on product-based environments. The candidate will part take in the design, development, implementation and support of critical web applications and web services. The solution is primarily based on the following technologies Java/J2EE, WebSphere/RAD (Rational Application Development), Spring MVC, Ajax, JSP/Servlets, HTML, Javascript, and JQuery. SPS analytics solution is based on Oracle Business Intelligence suite (OBIEE). Tomcat and WebSphere are the primary deployment platforms utilized by the team.

The candidate would join a team of 5 individuals based in Dublin, who are following both Agile and Waterfall development methodologies to deliver in a fast paced environment on core capabilities and business solutions.

Reponsibilities:

*Works with Systems Analyst to understand requirements in able to design systems and programs to meet complex business needs.

*Prepares detailed specifications from which programs are developed and coded.

*Creates appropriate documentation in work assignments such as program code, and technical documentation.

*Ensures programs meet standards and technical specifications; performs technical analysis and component delivery.

*Designs programs for projects or enhancements to existing programs.

*Assists in support activities in resolving moderately complex program problems.

*Works with the team to resolve issues and validate programming requirements within their areas of responsibility.

*Provides technical advice on complex programming.

*Creates appropriate documentation in work assignments such as program code, and technical documentation.

*Motivate and drive more junior development engineers towards successful delivery of product releases.

*Staying informed and abreast of the industry technologies in the J2EE/OBIEE area.

*Translate business requirements into implementation process by considering all alternatives and

*Become familiar with the design and architecture of their products and contribute to betterment of the overall roadmap.

*Participate in the definition of both functional and non-functional requirements of a system.

*Write source code, adapt existing components, and test the developed components as units creating test stubs and test data as necessary.

Qualifications:

*Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field.

*A minimum of 8-10 years of application programming experience is required.

*Strong background in Server Side Java/J2EE/JMS/JDBC required.

*Websphere/RAD/Spring framework and HTML/Javascript/experience required.

*Experience with Service Oriented Architecture.

*Experience working with Oracle required.

*JQuery/Ext-JS Development and experience with Tomcat preferred.

*Familiarity with Business Intelligence products is a plus.

Skills:

*Knowledge of software development methodologies including Agile required.

*Data analysis, design skills and familiarity with Business Intelligence products a plus.

*Investment/benefits management services experience is highly desired.

*Ability to effectively articulate and communicate problems and recommended solutions to individuals of varying roles and levels in the firm.

*Ability to work effectively in global team distributed across geographic locations.

*Excellent written, oral communication, presentation, analytical, problem solving, leadership and influencing skills.

*Ability to work effectively in an agile working environment.

*Self-motivated and quick learner.
