Overview:

A private NY art advisory and appraisal firm specializing in 20th century and contemporary art and design is currently accepting applications for Summer 2015 internships.

Interns will assist in curatorial, appraisal and transactional projects as well as communications and social media. This internship offers hands-on experience in the practicalities of the art world including art markets, determining value, cataloguing standards, research methods, collection management, reportage and how a private advisory firm works.

General internship length is eight to ten (8-10) weeks with a commitment of 2-3 full days per week in our downtown Manhattan office beginning June 2015 through Mid-August. Start/end dates and work hours are flexible and can be accommodated for the right candidates.

This is an unpaid internship with a small stipend to cover meals and transportation. School credit is available and will be crafted around any university requirements.

Responsibilities include:

• administrative

• market research

• provenance research

• object identification

• cataloguing

• writing provenance documents

• preparing presentation and marketing materials

• social media

• reportage

• other assigned projects

Qualifications:

• All interns must be degree-seeking students enrolled as a full-time student at the time of their internship OR recent graduates.

• Interns must sign an agreement to complete the full duration of the internship.

• NOTE: In order to gain the most out of the Internship, we strongly upperclassman (rising juniors, seniors, and graduate students) to apply.

• Successful applicants are not necessarily art history majors but have a passion for art and a strong desire to learn about the art world.

Requirements:

• A self-starter with the ability to work independently and as part of a team

• Excellent organizational skills

• Excellent research skills

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, including superior written and spoken communication

• Demonstrated ability to multi-task and prioritize

• Strong follow-up skills with attention to detail

• Proficient in Microsoft Office (mainly Excel, PowerPoint, Word)
