As Designer I on the Store Design team, under the direction of the Director of Store Design, you’d have the unique opportunity to contribute innovative 3D design expertise at various scales: from footwear to furniture and fixtures, to evergreen and experiential moments at wholesale, to the ongoing rollout of a global fleet of physical retail environments.
We’re interested in developing the form of future retail that reflects Converse’s design ethos, supports retail business targets, and enhances the consumer retail experience.
This position does not require specific professional Retail experience (though it wouldn’t hurt): we are largely seeking an Architectural designer with a willingness to work hard towards unique design solutions, take direction and collaborate as part of a fast-growing team.
QUALIFICATIONS
An understanding of the Converse brand, its product and its consumer
A ‘Maker-mindset’ – an innate drive to envision, prototype and execute
High level interest and experience in contemporary design and fabrication techniques (CNC, lasercutting, metal/woodworking, Grasshopper3d, RhinoPython)
Expert facility with 2D/3D programs and rendering plugins (Ideally Rhinoceros 3D and VRay,) CAD software and the Adobe Suite would be a baseline expectation
A strong graphic design sensibility, complementary with Brand, but also contemporary and willing to push status quo.
Polished presentation and communication skills (visual, verbal and written)
Professional experience with Architectural CAD documentation conventions (SD through CD-level CAD drawings, shop fabrication review, consultant coordination)
Experience and/or confidence with Construction Administration (directing vendors and collaborators on-site and through the typical language of construction)
B.Arch or M.Arch in Architecture from an accredited program
Professional experience (2+ years) in recognized Architecture/Interior Design firm
