McGinnis Chen Associates, Inc. is an A/E firm founded in 1963. We provide specialized exterior building envelope consulting services to private, institutional and public sector clients. Our expertise includes existing building remediation or restoration, new building waterproofing consultation, design peer review, construction monitoring and contract administration, complemented by a working understanding of the legal procedures involved in litigating defective buildings. Because much of our time is spent in the field on jobsites, our drawn work is very informed by the built condition. We are often a key intermediary between Architect and Contractor throughout the design and building process.
Job Description
Manages the CAD department by supervising staff, providing guidance, and reviewing work.
Organize the CAD environment
Develop, implement and enforce CAD Details and Standards
Create and maintain office library of CAD details
Provide production CAD support as necessary, including but not limited to developing a standards manual; coordinating and distributing revisions to the standards, answering internal questions regarding CAD related problems, and troubleshooting and performing or guiding the employees through the proposed solution.
Coordinate CAD systems maintenance including hardware, software and plotters, determining items needed for upgrades, installing required CAD software, and ordering supplies as needed
Provide CAD training activities including training new employees and trainees, writing and maintaining training documentation, maintaining a CAD Knowledgebase, and presenting Lunch and Learn classes on an ongoing basis
Review network and systems activity: coordinates with the IT Department on network organization and usage, and assists in the backup and archiving of data
Archive completed projects, clean-up CAD files or project closeout
Assist with the production for project related CAD drawings and details as needed
Qualifications
Associates Degree or Technical Degree with a focus in Computer Graphics for construction OR Civil/Survey, Computer Science, Architecture, or Engineering related degree with focus on Computer Aided Design.
Five (5) to ten (10) years of relevant experience to include extensive work on network systems or any combination of education and experience that provides equivalent knowledge, skills and abilities
Expert in AutoCAD
Previous experience managing a CAD Group or CAD Department with other firms
Excellent communication and organization skills
Experience using and/or managing the current versions of the following software in a production environment
CAD: AutoCAD, Revit
Graphics: Adobe Acrobat (PDF), Adobe Photoshop, Bluebeam
Spreadsheet: Microsoft Excel
Word processing: Microsoft Word
