Overview

We’re looking for an ambitious and technically-minded apprentice to join our international creative marketing agency. We provide full B2B marketing services for global pharmaceutical, life science and cutting-edge technology brands. We have some of the industry’s best talent for developing our creative ideas, strategic planning and writing content, but we’re missing an up-and-coming developer to help with building websites, email blasts and more.

Location of job:

Notch Communications Ltd, 76 King Street, Manchester M2 4NH.

Centrally located on King Street, between Diesel and DKNY, and near the junction with Cross Street.

Great transport links, including:

Free Metroshuttle bus from Piccadilly Station (stops right by the office)

Numerous public bus services stop nearby

Nearest tram: Market Street (5 minutes walk)

Piccadilly, Deansgate, Victoria and Oxford Road train stations are all approx 10-15 minutes walk.

Notch was formed in 2011 when its principals decided to leave a major global advertising company to set up a new model of creative agency. One that’s more user-friendly, being small, responsive and affordable, due to smarter ways of working that are more appropriate to this day and age. We work predominantly in the scientific and technology sectors, with a strong focus on combining brilliant creative ideas with the latest digital tools. We always seek to add value to clients’ campaigns and projects, looking for innovative ways to maximize their campaign reach. Developing our core digital skills and in-house capabilities is key to remaining successful in these areas, and our new apprenticeship will be an important factor in the process.

Apprentice’s role:

Our apprentice will assist our in-house social media and account management teams in delivering various types of project. These will range initially from assistance with online profiles, social media management and quick fixes to existing websites content, through to building email blasts and other digital promotional materials (designed by our digital designers), and working on new website development projects.

Responsibilities:

Assisting with maintaining clients’ websites, and Notch’s sites.

Contributing ideas and solving problems for clients’ day-to-day digital campaign needs.

Assisting our CEO in developing a new suite of in-house Notch tools and algorithms.

Assisting our account management and social media teams with day-to-day web development needs.

Working with designers to code digital collateral and build client websites.

Keeping up-to-date with the latest digital marketing trends and technological developments, and helping colleagues to understand and keep up-to-date with these too.

Key attributes and skills:

Essential skills and characteristics – you must:

Have some existing programming capabilities, preferably in HTML plus other languages.

Be technically-minded and hungry to learn new skills.

Be proactive and able to work independently, including self-learning on the job, as well as happy to work as part of a team.

Be interested in digital marketing, social media and online trends.

Be willing to keep researching, reading and absorbing.

Be comfortable working in a busy, open-plan office.

Have a positive ‘can-do’ attitude that will make it easy to embrace any challenge.

Ideal skills – it would help if you:

Have an interest in life sciences and/or chemistry, pharmaceuticals, materials science or hi-tech research and developments.

Have post-GCSE qualifications in mathematical, technical or scientific subjects.

Have capabilities in Flash, AfterEffects, Photoshop or Indesign (or similar).

Are not intimidated by stepping out of your comfort zone or talking to senior management.
