Adept with technology and the changing society at tuned with K-12 is DepEd Taguig and Pateros, armed with passion and compassion imbibing the nation with their Action Research Festival. Conducted to motivate teachers to uplift the standards of education and increase the ranks in the National Achievement Test and produce more prodigies for the region, DepEd Taguig-Pateros recently launched the acknowledgement of accepted 63 action research from among 400 papers submitted for the said festival. Dubbed as the First Action Research Festival of Deped with the theme: "Innovation in Teaching Strategies and Instructional Materials towards Quality Assurance: the K to 12 Experience" held at MGC New Christian Life Academy in Bonifacio Global City Taguig, supervisors, principals and recognized teacher-researchers were acknowledged at the event along with DepEd Taguig-Pateros Schools Division Superintendent Dr. Danilo Santos Gutierrez and officials of the Taguig local government. First for DepEd to recognize an action research festival and also my first to witness a melee of talented teachers with such compassionate research geared at addressing the needs of learners today. I was astounded at some researches dealing with bullying problems and those selected few using social media and the internet as significant tools for learning. Although some of the researches may seem simply descriptive or case studies that may benefit few constituents of the district or the community only, the choices of topics for researches address the immediate needs of the learners these days. It was the first time I've heard of an action research festival since many Divisions just encourage the supervisors and the head teachers without a similar event. DepEd Taguig and Pateros is fast showing progress in test results and academic excellence indicators with such an attitude to keep up with the competition. They are just too fortunate to have a local government giving so much support at every endeavor. While the media feasts on the issue of territory of where Bonifacio Global City should be rightly governed either by Makati or Pateros or Taguig, the teachers continue to raise the bar in academic excellence with this First Action Research Festival. Significant to note on the said event is the ensured action on the social issues the learners of DepEd Taguig-Pateros face each day because of the conduct of these researches in different schools of the Division. May this action research festival be a springboard of all Division of City Schools all over the country to acknowledge teachers who walk the talk in addressing the needs and preferences of learners. How do these efforts translate to high ranks in the NAT and the competitions? Let's all find out in the coming of age from their defense this coming December.
