Cuso International is a North American leading international development agency that works through volunteers to overcome poverty since more than 50 years.

Cuso International is currently implementing a five year project: Youth Leadership, Entrepreneurship, Access and Development Project (YouLead). Funded by Government of Canada through the Department of Foreign Affairs, Trade and Development the project supports the creation of youth-led enterprises and employment for young women and men in the natural resource sector in Cross River State, Nigeria.

Job Title: Finance Assistant

Location: Calabar, Nigeria

Reports to: Finance Officer

Job Summary

Reporting to the Finance Officer, the Finance Assistant is responsible for supporting the Finance Officer in day to day financial activities within the project Office.

He/She will be responsible for managing cash disbursement, including trainees’ payments, petty cash management and maintenance of adequate record and adherence to Cuso International and donor policies.

Key Responsibilities

Financial Transactions:

Maintain up-to-date and accurate petty cash records and vouchers according to petty cash limit with appropriate approval.

Keep safe all cash in hand according to Cuso cash procedure.

Prepare with-holding tax report.

Assist new staff to open bank accounts.

Support the Finance Officer in the review and reconciliation of attendance register with payments for trainees, trip expenses and employees advances.

Make entries of financial vouchers into Cuso in-house financial.

Making cheque and cash deposits into bank accounts. Including payments for tax, pensions, health insurance, vendors and partners.

Stamps paid all vouchers and maintain record filing in a chronological order and arrange all documents in an orderly manner in the filing cabinet.

Any other tasks as required from time to time.

Skills and Qualifications

Financial Administration:

Relevant accounting qualification or diploma with at least two (2) years relevant working experience in an office environment assisting with financial duties.

Job Title: Administration and Logistics Assistant

Location: YouLead – Ogoja Office, Cross River State

Reports to: Ogoja, Project Officer, with matrix reporting to Project Support & Logistics Officer

Status: Fixed Term, 2 year contract with possible extension

Job Summary

Reporting directly to the Project Support and Logistics Officer, the Administration Assistant will be responsible for all general day-to-day administration of the Ogoja YouLead Office.

The Administration Officer will contribute to the implementation of the administration, finance and procurement functions of YouLead, leading its implementation and ensuring standards, policies and procedures and practices are consistent with donor (Department of Foreign Affairs, Trade & Development) and Cuso requirements in.

Key Responsibilities

Office Management and Operations:

Deliverable: Proactively manage the office to ensure administration, logistics and procurement systems are accurate, efficient and customer focused as possible.

Key Responsibilities:

Maintain an orderly, accessible and confidential filing system and assist with filing of key documents

Ensure and monitor general office maintenance and the smooth functioning of all fixtures, fittings and equipment.

Ensure regular office functions are performed effectively and efficiently e.g. banking, post office, cleaning services.

Establish and maintain update and complete human resources file for all staff.

Ensure all assets are covered by appropriate insurance policies according to Cuso guidelines and manage all processes related to staff insurance.

Maintain and update schedule for emergency folder, phone list and office emergency procedure for staff health and safety.

Assist the PSLO in the management of vendors list, procurement policies

With the support of PSLO, procure office supplies, equipment and services ensuring cost effectiveness Cuso & Donor compliance are maintained.

Prepare and manage monthly timesheet, attendance sheet, leave forms and vehicle log book, equipment maintenance logbook. management of fixed asset register, inventory list, stock control;

Lead reference point in the office for ICT and ensuring adequate support is provided by liaising with Cuso IT staff and external IT service providers as needed.

Manage Cuso events, providing all logistics support, including training/workshop, partners’ forum, business development forums, etc.

Other Duties:

Attend meetings, taking notes and keeping records as required

Position Qualifications

Job Title: Project Management Assistant

Job Summary

The Project Management Assistant provides a range of logistic and administrative support to the YouLead Project Director and the YouLead Team Leader for the implementation of YouLead.

Key Responsibilities

Support to Project Steering Committee:

Provide logistical support for the organization of regular Project Steering Committee meetings

Prepare and edit key documents for the PSC meetings

Take minutes of PSC meetings and support the editing and approval of the minutes by PSC members

Provide administrative support to PSC members

Project Documentation:

Upon request revise and edit project documents to meet high standard of quality

Oversees the management of the Share Drive to ensure proper filing of all project documents

Provide support the team for documentation and filing of key project documents

Job Title: Communications Officer

Location: Calabar, Nigeria

Job Summary

Reporting to the Knowledge and Communications Manager, the Communications Officer is responsible for the implementation of the communication strategy and providing timely and relevant information to project stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities

Communication:

Develop close working relationship with project partners and stakeholders – all parties required to establish a shared vision of the project and achieve results

Coordinate the production of communication material for the project ensuring compliance with Cuso International communication protocols and policies

Implement the project communication strategy

Liaise with the Cuso International communication team

Ensure high quality of YouLead public documents, reports, and communication materials

Message development to inspire change within and outside the organization: adapted to targeted audiences, context and institutional priorities, promoting sense of shared purpose related to the YouLead cause. Consolidation of Media Relations, Strategic Partnerships & Networking to promote public representation and visibility of YouLead at national, local and international levels and online.

Job Title: Project Officer

Location: Ogoja YouLead Satellite Office Cross River State

Reports to: Project Team Leader

Status: Fixed Term, 2 year Contract

Job Summary

The Project Officer will manage the YouLead Ogoja Satellite Office and coordinate the provision of training and technical support services on employment and youth entrepreneurship in the North and Central Districts of Cross River State.

He/She will supervise the Administrative and Logistic Officer to provide comprehensive logistics, project and volunteer administration and support function to the YouLead project.

Key Responsibilities

Provision of technical support in entrepreneurship and business development:

Provide regular monitoring in the implementation of YouLead activities at the LGAs in the North and Central Districts to ensure that YouLead implementation by partners and volunteers are on track.

Support the activities of Program Managers-Financial Inclusion, Value Chain & Entrepreneurship Development, NRM/Policy, Knowledge & Communication at the grassroots.

Follow up on mobilization and community sensitization activities by community volunteers, NYSC Volunteers and YAC members.

Project Team

Work collaboratively with all members of the Project Team in order to coordinate and maximize efficiency of project activities:

Share relevant information with Project Team members on an on going basis.

Programme Administration & Support:

Lead within the country office in organizing and managing logistics of meetings, project workshops, tours, international staff visits or other activities as required;

Job Title: Monitoring and Evaluation Officer

Location: Calabar, Nigeria

Reports to:  Knowledge and Communications Manager

Job Summary

Reporting to the Knowledge and Communications Manager, the Monitoring and Evaluation Officer is responsible for ensuring that the project has the systems and the capacity for carrying out effective monitoring and evaluation.

The post holder will be responsible for ensuring that the project collates the key information and data necessary for DFATD and Cuso International reporting requirements and in supporting other staff and partners to assist in this.

To do this the post holder will be responsible for the implementation of the Performance Measurement Framework (PMF) that enables complex monitoring of the beneficiaries and impacts of the program to take place.

Key Responsibilities

Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning:

Implement the performance monitoring plan with all relevant staff, volunteers and partners

In conjunction with the Knowledge and Communications Manager and the M&E consultant collaborate with project staff and partners to develop evaluation plans/frameworks, data collection protocols, tools and systems

Ensure that the MEAL system fully reflects and incorporates Cuso International’s gender equality commitments as outlined in the Gender Equality Policy, Strategy and Approach

Support the regular production and updating of key lessons learned from the project

Produce quality and timely results reports

Assist the Knowledge and Communications Manager in ensuring the implementation of all aspects of the YouLead MEAL system in close collaboration with the Cuso International MEAL Team

Job Title: YouLead Project Officer, Business Development

Location: Calabar, Nigeria

Reports to: Project Manager, Entrepreneurship & Value Chain Development

Job Summary

Reporting to the Project Manager, Entrepreneurship & Value Chain Development, the Business Development Officer will provide effective business development services training and hands on technical assistance to value chain actors/players and young entrepreneurs to establish and grow their MSMEs in their selected products and services in forestry, agriculture, aquaculture and eco-tourism.

The business development officer will provide a wide range of business advisory services aimed at the managerial, financial and operational skills needed to ensure the establishment of profitable businesses by entrepreneurs.

Key Responsibilities

Research on Market opportunities:

Work with the entrepreneurship and value chain team to identify and evaluate market opportunities including collection on baseline data.

Develop and implement strategic sales plan with young entrepreneurs

Identify and evaluate specific new profitable business opportunities

Conduct needs assessment, market research and develop value chain cost/ benefit analysis to effectively engage youth in gender-responsive entrepreneurship and enterprise development

Support young entrepreneurs to develop and implement bankable business plans

Provide support as necessary to business initiatives

Ensure business benefits can be realized or that risks inhibiting realization are highlighted

Support the promotion of gender equality as a cross-cutting theme within the YouLead project

Location: YouLead Satellite Office in Ogoja, Cross River State, Nigeria

Reports to: Ogoja Project Officer with matrix report to Project Support & Logistics Officer.

Job Summary

General:

To do all in your power, to promote the good standing of YouLead.

At all times act professionally and ethically in your work related activities.

To inform management of any pending problems or alert them to potential improvements in operating procedures.

To carry out reasonable instructions from your line manager, Project director and other team members to the best of your ability.

Key Responsibilities

To ensure that:

1.) Transport

Transport staff and other personnel to and from various destinations, including trips which may last for several days, ensuring that all occupants wear seat belt.

Maintain a log book for all tasks for all trips, fuelling and maintenance

Ensure vehicles are in sound mechanical conditions ready for program activities, conducting daily checks and maintenance

Maintain the vehicles in a clean condition at all times.

Ensure vehicles have all essential accessories such as umbrellas, map, fire extinguisher, maintenance tool kit, torch, first aid kit, telephone directory and other essential items like water, oil and brake fluid.

Conduct regular vehicle checks to ensure service schedules are adhered to

Ensuring that vehicles are safe and secured at all times

Plan routes and estimate requirements for field trips, preparing funding requests as appropriate.

Fulfil other duties such as picking up and delivering items/mails.

Test drive office vehicle to be able to guide external service providers on what to do on vehicles; also to verify work done by external service providers upon return of the vehicle from the garage

Load and unload any Cuso International goods as needed or requested.

Undertake medical exam and eye test as required by management to maintain safe driving capacity. Eye test will be done yearly.

Ensure that vehicle insurance, license and road-worthiness and other government required licenses are up-to-date and copies are kept in the vehicle.

Staff are charged at least monthly for personal use of Project vehicles and rates for personal use are reviewed at least twice a year.

The vehicle code of conduct is strictly enforced.

Undertake other duties that may be assigned by the supervisor.

2.) Logistical Support:

Develop and maintain a documentation system for vehicles operations and liaise with administrative staff to maintain set guidelines

That minor maintenance issues are fixed by yourself or reported and fixed promptly.

The vehicle code of conduct is strictly enforced.

Must keep a fully charged mobile phone with credits at all times when travelling for project purposes.

Support the Administration and Logistics Assistant in administration and logistics duties.

Other duties:

Office Runs or any other duties as required and as directed via the Project Support and Logistics Officer, Finance & Admin Manager and branch supervisor.

High standards of care and safety are maintained at all times.

To Check and ensure there is always fuel for the standby generator, both in the generator itself and in the container for refuelling.

Ensure all vehicle tools are in order and report any missing tools to your line manager.

Attend staff planning meetings as and when required.

Qualifications

Minimum of 5 years driving experience within an organisation (Government or Private sector

Clean Driver’s licence and good driving record

Read, write, understand and communicate clearly in English

Maintain good physical condition that will enable Driver to stoop, bend, twist, and perform other motions, requiring strength and endurance when performing manual labour indoors or outdoors. Able to frequently lift up to 100 lbs

Vehicle Code of Conduct

Vehicle can be only be operated by YouLead designated driver and staff listed in the YouLead Vehicle Insurance Policy.

All users driving the vehicle must log all vehicle mileage – date; location; start and End miles; personal or business; name & signature.

Vehicle is to be strictly used for project / programme activities. Approval must be sought from the Finance & Admin Manager, Project Director or Team Leader for any other use.

No one is allowed to borrow or take any tools/equipment from the vehicle.

No alcohol consumption & smoking allowed inside the vehicle.

Seat Belts must be worn by all passengers in the vehicle at all times.

Driver is responsible for cleaning up the vehicle after every trip.
