The Waterloo Regional Police Service is looking for an experienced IT professional to fill the role of Programmer/Analyst.
The candidate will provide IT programming expertise gained through a minimum of five (5) years of programming experience in an environment with complex databases.
Specific accountabilities of the position include, but are not limited to:
Evaluates existing software and resources. Modifies resources where necessary, to increase functionality, correctness, reliability, efficiency, accuracy and data integrity.
Corrects specific system problems by identifying, documenting and correcting system issues.
Researches, designs and implements new systems where existing systems cannot be sufficiently upgraded to meet latest user needs or where no systems exist to address specific user needs.
Builds interfaces between existing systems as well as new systems to be used both internally and externally.
Develop, manage, and maintain interfaces with external systems.
Prepares training reference documents, instructs users and provides guidance on computer hardware and software systems developments and modifications.
Provides frequent user support by responding to inquiries for assistance for specific applications.
Qualifications:
Minimum Five (5) years' experience in system analysis and design
Experience in database design and development in environments such as Visual Studio, .NET Framework, ASP.NET, ASP, C#, MS SQL Server, XML/HTML
Experience with application and system development
Demonstrated knowledge of proper coding standards
Degree or Diploma in Computer Science
Proficiency in Microsoft Office and other IT business tools
Strong communication and interpersonal skills
Proven ability to provide technical expertise to audiences of varied IT knowledge
A valid Class "G" Driver's License with no more than 6 demerits
Ability to meet security clearance requirements
