The Design Engineering Specialist (CET) will work continuously with the Design Engineering specialists (Engineers) during the design stage. The Design Engineering Team is made up of an Electrical Engineer, Mechanical Engineer and Civil (Structural) Engineer. In addition, you will design, coordinate, submit, analyze, develop, test, and guide the installation of specific headend hardware. In addition to this design and development, he/she will be responsible for analysing component failure, identifying route causes, and validating manufactured products in order to maintaining Rogers' quality standards. He/she will also be required to provide estimates and costs associated to his/her respective projects.Also, the Design Engineering Specialist (CET) will oversee design development activities with the Consultant, based on planning documents, engineering plans, risk plans, guidelines, and assumptions. He/she is responsible for the creative aspects of the design as well as making sure it is completed on time. He/she is responsible for cost, scheduling, technical issues, and overall productivity of the Consultant

Summary of other tasks:

Provide feasibility report where the basis for the scope of work is identified and agreed upon. The document will be measured on Standards & Practices, Rogers Hub Specifications & Guidelines, and Engineering Plan requirements.

Provide a set of drawings that should reflect the option which was agreed upon during the feasibility stage and which should include LIFE SAFETY requirements for PERMIT applications.

Provide an official set of drawings (Floor Plans, Single Line, Details) reflecting 100% the design ready for Tender.

Coordinate design activities of the project with the entire engineering (Electrical Mechanical and Civil (Structural) organization.

Manage the design development by tracking the progress of the design and making the necessary corrections with respect to the timetable.

Make the daily decisions with the FPC Group and Headend Operations Team.

Design sub-element activities of the design phase: Property acquisition, Environmental, and Permitting.

Develop a set of construction documents for the expansion and three year capacity forecast implementation.

Recruit professional consultants; assign, direct, and evaluate their work; and oversee the development and maintenance of the consultants' competence.

Assist in evaluations of existing structures, including parkade and post-tensioned system reviews.

Assist in Project Administration

Qualifications:

Diploma or degree in Civil Engineering Technology/Civil engineering,

Minimum five (5) years hands on experience in AutoCAD 2D and 3D drafting and design. Revit knowledge is an asset

Ability to work against tight deadlines with minimal supervision.

Knowledge of various relevant legislation: Ontario Building Code, Fire Code, Occupational Health & Safety Act;

Considerable working experience in engineering technology, specifically in the principals of electrical, mechanical and civil engineering and structural engineerings;

Demonstrated experience in reading, checking and interpreting technical drawings, construction specifications;

Ability to gather, interpret, and report engineering data in an accurate manner under strict timelines

Have a membership with ASET as a CET or must be eligible to be recognized as a Certified Engineering Technologist (C.E.T.) with ASET with the Ontario Association of Engineering, Technicians and Technologists (OACETT)

Comfortable in working independently in both an office and field environment

Field review experience is an asset.

Requires a valid Province of Ontario Class "G" Driver's License.
