So I have came across only a few "dipped" Jeeps and it seems they've all been Matte Black. I decided I would post up my Camo Tan JKU for anyone looking to do a change with their Jeep like I was. I recently moved to AZ and found it pointless to wash my Green Jeep because it seemed to always remain dusty so to say. I originally wanted to go with some crazy stand out color but Plast Dip in gallon form really isn't as cheap as some think it is, it isn't expensive by all means but when prepping to do your first job it can get up there. I decided I would do Camo Tan because it has good coverage and I could buy it un-thinned meaning I thin it myself and end up with 2 gallons of Plasti Dip for the same price that dipyourcar.com charges for 1 gallon of ready dip spray.
The key to a good smooth plasti dip job is coats. I ended up laying down 6 coats with 2 gallons and feel like I got pretty good coverage I wouldn't have minded having another 1/2 gallon though just to do a few more coats for good measure, but since I will be doing another color at some point, I am happy with my current results.
Wheels will probably get done black as well but I am currently deciding on what color I want to ultimately do and will take it from there. I plan to at some point do my bumpers and sliders black because that will probably go better with whatever color I end up going with next. Just so I could get full coverage on the bottom of the Jeep I went ahead and sprayed the sliders so will just peel it off later. I also removed the grill and sprayed it off the Jeep. With my winch and light mounted on the bumper this was the easiest solution for me. As far as taping off around the soft top, that was a pain because tape doesn't really hold to the top so there are some spots where the tape came off and I got dip on the top but rubbing it with my finger brings it right off so no worries on overspray getting on your soft top.

You will also need tape and newspaper/plastic to tape off things you don't want to peel obviously. To save dip I highly recommend masking off windows.
There is a couple of forums out there dealing with Plasti Dip so if your looking into doing anything with dip I recommend checking them out. Also dipyourcar.com has tons of youtube videos showing pretty much everything you need to know to do this successfully.
This stuff becomes pretty durable when you do it correctly and it can be washed and it can handle the elements quiet well. There is also pretty simple ways to fix accidental rips and what nots as well.
