Baftas Awards 2017; How you can create your favourite looks from this year’ s event

The Baftas Awards are one of the biggest events in the fashion and media industries. It’s the perfect way to celebrate television and film talent with all the glamour and glitz of the red carpet. This year we see the 69th British Film Academy Awards hosted at the stunning London Royal Opera House. This huge event precedes the Oscars and gives the world a hint of the amazing outfits and film star talent. We take a look at the winner of each category and cover how you can create a great look inspired by what we saw on the red carpet.

The Leading Actress Category

One the biggest films this year won Emma Stone the award in the Leading Actress category. Despite the cold on the night Emma turned up looking stunning. Whilst there were a few plunging necklines the actress had a secret to keeping warm. Her embroidered gown was reminiscent of a frosty, dewy winter morning with delicate cobweb like details. The gown nipped in perfectly at her tiny waist, leading the eye down to her puffed skirt to reveal cropped trousers. If you’re feeling the cold but want to look amazing and stay warm, why not try pairing smart tailored trousers with your favourite dress, you might be surprised just how well it works.

Supporting Actress Category

Viola Davis won Supporting Actress for her supporting role in Fences. The actress wore a gorgeous taffeta silk gown in beautiful shades of sea green and sea blue. The strapless dress was a brave choice for the cool weather, Viola looked perfectly at ease in it the whole night. The dress features a cross over pattern and a skirt that cascades beautifully to the floor. Viola’s hair and make up looked elegant and simple with soft curls and a dark but bright shade of red lipstick. Why not try for a bright, strapless dress for your next night out if you want to feel the red carpet glamour?

Other outfits that we loved

We’ve focused on the winner of our two favourite categories but there were lots of other beautiful outfits to be seen a the awards. The royal couple Prince William and Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge made a last minute appearance a few minutes before the awards started. Kate was seen wearing a simple but elegant dress with lovely floral detail that got bigger the longer the dress went. The off the shoulder number bared Kate’s shoulders but she never looked cold!

Michelle Williams wore one of the most striking outfits that verged on abstract artwork. The metallic long sleeved dress flattered her slim figure and featured a face amongst painted shapes and patterns.

Penelope Cruz oozed the beauty and classic charm of a greek goddess with her modern take. The shimmery dress probably took hours to make but it looks so effective and simple with its loose lines and expert seams in all the right places.

Meryl Streep is never one for convention and she certainly proved it again this year. Her take on the tuxedo was simply amazing. The oversized jacket and flared trousers offer a relaxed but still formal look. The added detail on the cuffs and lacy neckline add feminine charm. It’s not just the men who get to wear a great suit!
