Now instead of launching to other planets instantly, you will instead go to the “Space” dimension. From here it is pretty self explanatory. Space is mostly empty, the planets are represented very obviously, and you can fly infinitely. Planets will be randomly spawned, but there will most likely be a fast travel option once you discover major “plot planets” (Namek, for example. Or Earth, since Namekians will start on Namek, and there will possibly be an Arcosian homeworld. This will make encountering other races a bit rarer, but obviously, this will be configurable.) When you are outside in space, the stronger you are, the longer you can last, but if you run out of ki you will begin to choke. If your space pod runs out of backup fuel (Will be explained later) you will no longer be supplied with oxygen and will begin to choke. Unless you are Arcosian of course.

Planets

I know most of you want to know about the planets. Well for one, the generation of planets is a really fun system. Each planet gets 4 random things. Surface color, Underground/Stone Color, Plantlife color and water color.  For instance, you may go underground to see something like this:

This is an artists recoloring rendition, not actual beta screenshots.

Same with this

Now, to talk about generation. Each color has different benefits to your overall gameplay, and all are rare in their own right. The colors are:

Lime Green

Purple

Crimson

Silver

Gold/Yellow

Now the rarity can be described in a more mathmatical way as, for every 2 planets with lime green surface, water, underground or plantlife, there is one planet that has a purple category. For every 2 planets with a purple category, there is one with Crimson, and so on and so forth.

Surface Colors:

The grass and sand of the world will be two colors, possibly the same, possibly different, but both are the most unimportant part of the planet. They serve as decoration, and have little true gameplay function other than new building blocks, and being cool for atmosphere of course. There is no different rarity scale, and all the different colors have the same chance of appearing as any other.

Water Color:

Now you may also thing “If sand and grass are just decoration, then the same must be said for water, right?” Wrong. Since oil/fuel will be added to the game for space pods soon, some waters will have a higher chance of bringing oil to a planet. In order, here is my planned “Least Likely to Most Likely” for oil list

Lime Green
Overworld (“Normal” water)
Gold/Yellow
Crimson
Silver
Purple

Also these waters will have different effects to Namekians as a food source. When Namekians get transferred to only being able to drink water, the different waters will all have some different effects on a Nemekian. Here is another list of the different waters and what they do for Namekians (Keep in mind that you cannot drink if you are full on hunger, kind of like you cannot eat if you are full on food in versions of minecraft):

Lime Green: Not only does it feed (2 bars) a Namekian, it restores 5% ki per bottle. No health restoration though.

Overworld: Feeds a Namekian with minor increase to both ki and health.

Namekian Water: Restores 25% ki and Health. Full food bar restoration.
Gold/Yellow: Restores 5% health per bottle. No ki restoration. It feeds for 2 bars.
Crimson: Crimson water is poisonous to Namekians. (Don’t you dare make any jokes about me hating Namekians, it just felt like it made sense) Drinking Crimson water will fully restore all hunger, but the Namekians will lose 20% health and ki per bottle.
Purple: Purple water is also poisonous to Namekians. (There is a lot of oil in their oceans) Namekians who drink purple water will receive a lose of 35% health and ki per bottle, but full hunger and saturation. (Saturation is a secret minecraft stat that is counted down before you start losing hunger, meaning you will be at the very peak of being fed)
Silver: Restores three bars of food.

Now that that is out of the way, time for the FINAL list, the rarity list. In order from rarest to most common:

Overworld water. (Yes, alien planets can have the same old blue water we see nowadays. Not interesting, but realistic.)

Lime Green

Crimson

Silver

Gold

Purple

Plantlife:

The plants on the planet are two different sub categories: Trees and Grass

Trees are all generated with two different colors. Log and Leaves. This means you can go to a planet with Lime green leaves but purple logs, or Gold Leaves and Silver logs. The leaves have a chance of dropping a specific fruit for people. The fruits are obviously, alien and cool, but I will leave that out for now. You can try to imagine what would drop from the trees yourself! The plantlife will be strange, and some planets will have plants that can be crafted into medicines to replace senzu beans since evil players cannot get them from korin. They will be the same color as the surface, to make it more appealing to the eye. They may serve other fuctions such as alien farming, but for now, I will simply leave it as decoration and medicine.

Underground/Stone:

Possibly the most important part of this entire update will be the underground exploration which will add new ores. It’s safe to say that these random planets out in space will be fun mining trips. There may even be naturally generated traps specific to each color of stone (Although Jin might not like this, so we will see.)

Purple:
Water: Yes (It will be the color of the planets current water)

Lava: Yes

Coal: Double the spawn rate of Overworld

Iron: No

Gold: No

Diamond: Yes. Same spawnrate as Overworld

Emerald: No

Warenai: No

Traps: Draining Water (Drains ki massively when you come in contact with it. Will have a unique look to distinguish it from normal water)

Custom Ore: Loroindium (Spawns at diamond level, with about a ration of 1 for every 4 chunks. Will be an alternative fuel source.)

Katchin Ore: That’s right! I said Katchin. No more needing to wish to the dragon to craft that Z-Sword (or a few of the other swords that will appear in the mod later down the road). Purple planets have a normal amount, which is a spawn rate of 1 every 10 chunks. It only spawns in bedrock. Requires a special pickaxe to mine

Spirit Shard Ore: Spirit Shards! This ore found in the highest quantity on Namek and Vegeta (x2 any other planet). It is the store essence of life, frozen and waiting for you to come pick it up. A bit rarer than diamonds, mining a Spirit Shard ore gets you a spirit shard piece from about 1-4. Craft together 9 pieces to get a spirit shard. Using it gives you 10 tp, so its a fun little way to get tp even if you are just mining for resources. However, the purple underground has none. They can spawn anywhere from 32 Y and lower.

Here are pictures of Spirit Shard ore and Katchin ore so you can see what they will look like (I didn’t put Spirit Shard ore in colored stone because I want you to instantly recognize it! Sorry they are so small, this is the actual size file for the game.)

Silver:

Water: No

Lava: No

Coal: Yes, half spawnrate of Overworld

Iron: Yes, half spawnrate of Overworld

Gold: Yes, double spawnrate of Overworld

Diamond: Yes, spawnrate of Overworld

Emerald: Yes, spawnrate of Overworld (Emeralds can spawn anywhere in silver)

Warenai: No

Traps: Quickstone. These blocks have no collision, and cannot be distinguished from other silver blocks. Stepping on them will rapidly send you burrowed into the earth, and you better hop out quick because suffocating in Quickstone can be a slow painful death. Mining quickstone blocks will give you regular stone instead of cobble.

Custom Ore: Rubies. Rubies can be traded to alien races in exchange for goods. Gold Veins. These are blocks that drop massive amounts of gold nuggets, which can also be used for trading with alien races. Some races like gold nuggets over rubies. Both Gold Veins and Rubies have a spawnrate of one in every three chunks, only at below the 32 Y coordinate.

Katchin Ore: No

Spirit Shard Ore: Yes, Normal spawnrate

Lime Green:

Water: Yes

Lava: Yes

Coal: No

Iron: Yes, triple the spawnrate of Overworld

Gold: No

Diamond: No

Emerald: Yes, double the spawnrate of Overworld

Warenai: Yes, double the spawnrate of Overworld

Traps: Ki Store Blocks. Mining or stepping on these blocks causes a non-enviromental (won’t blow up nearby blocks) explosion that can cause quite some damage to the player.

Custom Ore: Ancient Bones. Mining this block drops a random armor piece or sword. Amethyst. Will be used in the crafting of some swords later down the line.

Katchin Ore: Yes, normal spawnrate

Spirit Shard Ore: No

Crimson:
Water: Yes

Lava: Yes

Coal: Yes, Double the spawnrate of Overworld

Iron: Yes, Double the spawnrate of Overworld

Gold: Yes, Half the spawnrate of Overworld

Diamond: No

Emerald: No

Warenai: No

Traps: Sunburst Magma. Unlike Lava, Sunburst Magma is as hot as a sun. You won’t even feel the heat until you step on it either, in which case you will lose 200 dbc health per second. Fatal to low level players, but stronger ones can survive, considering it only lights you on ignites you with a normal fire, meaning once you get out, you should be ok. You cannot tell it apart from normal lava, but punching a mob into it may help. If it instantly dies, you know it is sunburst magma.

Custom Ore: Crimtane. Remember when I said you need a special pick to mine katchin? That pick is made of Crimtane. Crimtane can mine any block almost instantly, but has low durability. A Crimtane sword does more damage than the brave sword, but its durability is about half that of the brave sword. Crimtane tools can be repaired with Crimtane pieces. Crimtane spawns at the same rate as diamond.

Katchin Ore: Yes

Spirit Shard Ore: Yes

Gold:

Water: Yes

Lava: No

Coal: No

Iron: No

Gold: Yes, Triple the spawnrate of Overworld (may be hard to distinguish from normal stone, but if you look closley you can probably see the difference)

Diamond: Yes, double the spawnrate of Overworld

Emerald:  Yes, double the spawnrate of Overworld

Warenai: Yes, double the spawnrate of Overworld

Traps: Fools gem. There are some blocks that look just like gold, Emerald or Warenai, but when mined they will simply drop a block named “Fools Gem” They can only be carried one per stack, so they can clog your inventory, and since this planet has no lava, you have to go through the trouble of disposing of it somewhere you won’t pick it up again. More of an annoyance than a trap, but gold underground is the rarest of them all, so it is the most rewarding and least dangerous.

Custom Ore: Veins. Mining these can produce any gem (including ones not native to the planet like Rubies and Sapphires.)  in a quantity of 1-3. These spawn in groups of 1 and is a 1 in every 20 chunk rarity. Sapphires. These are another trading gem, and are usually the most valuable of them all.

Katchin Ore: No

Spirit Shard Ore: No

And that sums up the planets and their ore spawns. Let’s move on shall we?

Spaceships

Ho boy that was a lot to take in already, and we haven’t even gotten started! Like I said, this is a distraction mega post. Spaceships come in three different forms. Pods, Training Ship, and Transport ship.

Pods:

Passengers: 1

Speed: Fast

Fuel consumption: Medium

Fuel capacity: 10 KIF (Energy Fuel)

Backup fuel capacity: 5 KIF

Maximum upgrades: 2

Available Upgrades: 5

Now what does all that mean you ask? And why didn’t I describe it next to the list like I usually do? Well because its easier to explain all in one fell swoop. When oil is added to the game, it will serve as the first available energy source for Space Faring Ships. A “bucket” of oil is worth .5 KIF. KIF will be displayed in the ships GUI, to show the player how much fuel they have left in the ship before it does not move anymore. Backup fuel is how much more fuel you have left before the ship no longer provides you with oxygen, and you will be unable to sit inside it, making it useless junk. You can convert backup fuel to driving, but you will take damage very slowly while driving. Do this if there are still no planets in sight. Even Arcosians will need to do this, although Arcosians can survive in space, it is only for an extended period of time. Normal races can wander away from their ship for a small amount of time before they start to suffocate. If you want to have battles in space, its entirely possible, as long as you have a pod nearby for oxygen. Now why are there two types of fuel if you can drive until backup is over? Well, when you are running on backup fuel, you cannot use upgrades, and every time you land on a planet, your backup fuel will recharge. Oil can be converted into fuel, which is worth 1 KIF per bucket, which is more convenient. All you have to do is put the oil in a special machine (or we might just make a crafting recipe because we are lazy). Passengers is indicated by how many seats there are in the vehicle. Everyone must be seated or the vehicle cannot be moved.

Upgrades

Capsule Corp Ships and the Space Pod bot have upgrades you can apply to them, while the transport ship automatically has one upgrade at all times, its just a feature of the ship. (Please do keep in mind that two upgrades of the same type will do nothing extra for you unless it says so)

Pod Upgrades:

Fuel Conversion: You can use things like Coal (0.2 KIF) and wood (0.01 KIF) to fuel your ship.

Fuel Pockets: Using advanced storage technology, your space pod can now hold up to twice the fuel it could before

Scanners: When approaching a planet, you can activate the GUI of the ship again (right click while seated, don’t leave and sit down again) to see details about the planets planned generation. This lets you see its various color schemes, including its underground.

Hyper Oxygen System: Standing within 12 blocks of the Space ship when there is no one inside of it will provide oxygen to anyone nearby. This allows for you to create makeshift space arenas using Space pods.

Capsule Supported: Allows you convert your pod into a capsule at any time to be stored in the capsule case.

Capsule Corp Ship:

Double Gravity: The ships gravity training function is upgraded to support twice the gravity (200x) for faster training. Gravity automatically returns to normal when you begin flying the ship around

Fuel Preservation: The ship consumes 1/2 its regular KIF during travels

Fuel Pockets: Using advanced storage technology, your space ship can now hold up to twice the fuel it could before

Food Dispenser: Your ship comes with a fully stocked fridge. What’s not to love?

Extra Seats: You can equip the ship with two more available slots, making the new maximum 6 players.

Transport Ship:

It comes auto-equipped with the Scanners upgrade that the Pod has.

Alien Life

Oh you better believe we are not alone out there. Apart from the color of planets, they will also have a certain indigenous species. These citizens can sometimes give out side quests for you, and different life forms support different alignments. Race Behavior

Evil Races:

These guys consist of ruthless, the more ruthless, and the one everyone grovels to. Every time you find an Evil races village, there will be two distinct classes of citizens. The lower classes, who will give you mediocre fetch quests most of the time, and the elite class, which asks you to go kill members of another race on another planet, or maybe even some of their people. (Keep in mind the quest giver will attack you if you attack anyone near them) The leader can give either of these quests, and is the most powerful of all in the group. He has a one of a kind look. As long as the leader is in the village, villagers will respawn. If the leader is killed, you will have to manually spawn him in. (This is where the prisoner of war thing comes in. You get a spawn egg (which is textured like handcuffs) for the village leader. Spawning him somewhere will begin to spawn others of the same type of NPC. Evil Players get no discount at shops though.

Neutral Races:

These guys have only fetch quests and unaligned (monster and animal) kill quests. They do still sell prisoners of war (neutral leaders) for you to use, but they are mainly laid back. They don’t attack anyone unless provoked, and as expected, their leader is the only one that is different from everyone else in the group. Neutral players get a discount at shops.

Good Races:

As you would expect, good races hate Evil races, and do not take Prisoners of war. The only place to get Good leaders as prisoners of war is from Neautral people. These races are kindhearted to all passerbys, even if they are neutral, and will often cut them deals on their sales. They have elites and lessers like Evil races, but they all have a possibility of giving a kill quest. The leader may even give you a kill quest for the leader of an evil faction. (You can buy and kill a leader to complete it as well.)

That just about sums up what I have for races, I want that part to be the most ambiguous so exploration is fun.

Conclusion

Thanks for tuning in guys! Please comment on this post so I can talk to you about the ideas, this was a lot to take in, I know, but hopefully it will whet your appetite for DBC news for a while. Sorry it took so long to get this post out, it was a lot of writing, and it wasn’t super fun with my computers memory problems constantly crashing my browser. Oh well, see you later! Also! I didn’t forget about the story mega post, I simply just want to work on it at a slower pace.
