2016 A3 Sportback e-tron Pricing Announcement
Audi of America is proud to announce its first e-tron® offering, the all-new 2016 A3 Sportback e-tron®. This vehicle marks an important milestone as the first in line of e-tron® vehicles to join the Audi fleet.
The combination of a highly-efficient 1.4 TFSI® gas engine and electric motor yields 204 hp and 258 lb-ft. of torque. It’s a front wheel drive PHEV featuring a near 50:50 weight distribution, which lends to a great driving experience. Drivers will notice that, compared to other hybrid vehicles, the A3 Sportback e-tron® has outstanding driving dynamics that are akin to a typical Audi experience. The A3 Sportback e-tron® can move via all-electric propulsion, gasoline propulsion or a combination of both, to achieve over 400 highway miles total range.

The A3 e-tron offers the ultimate flexibility. The driver has the power to choose among four distinct driving modes:
· EV (default) – Utilizes the battery only to propel the car up to 80 MPH
· Hybrid – Utilizes a combination of electric energy and gasoline energy, depending on what is most efficient for the current driving conditions
· Hold battery – Runs the gasoline engine to conserve battery charge
· Charge battery – Uses the gasoline engine to recharge the battery while also powering the wheels
A3 Sportback e-tron® offers an impressive list of standard equipment, including Advanced key, Audi drive select, bi-xenon headlights and LED daytime running lights, LED taillights, dual zone climate control, a power panoramic sunroof, a split folding rear seat with integrated arm rest and cupholders,12 way power front seats including power lumbar support, and leather seating surfaces. This vehicle also features a variety of standard safety and driver assistance features including Audi pre sense basic, driver and front passenger advanced airbags, knee airbags, front and rear thorax side airbags, and Sideguard® head curtain airbags, as well as parking system plus with rearview camera. A color driver information system, Sirius Satellite radio, and Bluetooth phone preparation/ Audi streaming are also standard.
The vehicle also features a variety of features which lend itself to an exceptional design while also offering exceptional convenience. The A3 Sportback e-tron® can comfortably transport five people plus cargo. A dedicated e-tron app also joins the features lineup. The app contains information about your latest trips and your efficiency, charging status, and ability to preset the heating and air conditioning systems to prepare the car before you drive.
From a design perspective the A3 Sportback e-tron® features unique S line front bumper; unique e-tron® grille; S line side sills; e-tron badging on the front grille, fenders and rear tailgate; an integrated roof spoiler; and a unique rear bumper and exhaust. The A3 Sportback e-tron® has the usual Audi quality fit and finish and comes in three interior colors, e-tron badging on the dash, shift knob and aluminum door sills, and an optional unique 3D optic inlay design.
Additional options include: 17” wheels or sport package with 18” wheels with sport seats and shift paddles, B&O sounds system with 14 speakers and 705 watts, Audi side assist, Audi active lane assist, Audi adaptive cruise control with stop and go, Audi pre-sense front, and MMI Navigation plus with Audi connect.
The Audi A3 Sportback e-tron® presents a unique opportunity to conquest sales from both Audi’s traditional competitors and high performing hybrid models. In 2014, the Lexus CT200 sold 17,673 units and the Toyota Prius sold over 200,000 units. Combining those numbers with the electrified offerings of BMW and Mercedes Benz, the opportunity for A3 Sportback e-tron® sales is clearly significant.

Audi energy offerings
Audi has gone through great lengths to provide a comprehensive suite of offerings with the A3 Sportback e-tron that we call Audi energy. With each vehicle, the following features are standard:
· Switchable 120V/240V electric vehicle supply equipment (EVSE): A customer can charge his/her e-tron’s battery at home or away using the elegantly designed Audi EVSE. This unit is packaged in a convenient carrying case in the trunk of the car. The customer can plug the EVSE unit into any standard household outlet to charge the battery from empty to full in about eight hours. Or, they can swap the household plug for a 240V plug and charge the battery in about two hours.
· Ultra-low carbon footprint: Audi has made investments in environmental conservation programs for each A3 Sportback e-tron built. With these investments, customer can appreciate that their vehicle’s carbon footprint (from assembly through 50,000 miles of driving) has been minimized.
Optional Audi energy offerings
· Home installation of EVSE and 240V plug: Audi has partnered with a leading provider, Bosch Automotive Service Solutions to provide e-tron customers the option to have the EVSE that comes with their vehicle professionally installed. Bosch can also install a 240V outlet in the customer’s charging location so the car can be charged in about two hours. During the sales process, the ABS can share the customer’s contact information directly with Bosch via the Progressive Retail application.
· Home solar: Audi has partnered with the market leader in solar power, SunPower, to offer its customers the option to power their homes (and e-tron) with clean, renewable solar power. Just like with Bosch, the ABS can share the customer’s information with SunPower via Progressive Retail.

The start of retail sales is expected to begin in mid-October, with a national advertising campaign scheduled to launch in September with the Emmy Awards show.
A Federal tax incentive of $4,168 will be available on all first-time purchases of the Audi A3 Sportback e-tron®. Information about additional state and local incentives can be found at http://www.afdc.energy.gov/laws. Retail and finance programs will be announced closer to the start of sales.
