How an Outsourced Bookkeeping and Payroll Company is Saving Small Businesses
Tens of Thousands of Dollars

We knew right from the start this woman had it made by her name alone – anyone who goes by Jill is obviously SMART and has all her ducks in a row.

But it didn’t take long after working with Jill Frillman to realize she definitely knows what she’s doing when it comes to helping small businesses feel organized and in control of their bookkeeping and business numbers.

Jill has a proven track record of helping companies find the leaks and fixing them. In one consulting firm, she found more than $300,000 in unbilled activity, and in a legal office she found $25,000 in unclaimed funds.  Although she can’t guarantee this type of results for you, Jill is especially strong at “cleaning up messes.”

Jill’s business actually started “by accident” but it’s no accident that she has successfully been helping companies with their Quickbooks and accounting needs for over 20 years.

Read on to learn more about how Jill started and has run a successful bookkeeping firm.

Describe your business:

Bookkeeping Etc., Inc., offers an entire platform of accounting solutions to help small businesses smooth out their accounting functions so they can be more cost-effective.

Their services include:

QuickBooks Consulting, Training and Support

Bookkeeping and Payroll services

Resell of all Intuit products

What’s the one thing your company is known for, over your competitors?

Working with numbers isn’t just our job, it’s our passion. We actually LOVE bookkeeping, payroll and accounting. And we LOVE working with small businesses helping them to be successful and profitable. We are experts in accounting practices and software to really help smooth processes and save you time and money. We are Advanced Certified QuickBooks ProAdvisor, Intuit Premier Reseller, Certified Profit First Professionals and Accountants.

Also, as the owner of the company I was born and raised in the Washington DC area and people seem to appreciate that – it helps show stability and trust. I won the 2015 Sleeter Nuance Networker award, and for the last three years in a row, I have earned the Insightful Accountant Top 100 ProAdvisor award.

How the Business Got Started

By accident! My husband was building multi-million dollar homes with a friend and I was handling his bookkeeping.  The owner of the home building company asked if I could do his books, and then the plumber, masonry contractor, auto mechanic, etc.  Over the next couple of years I started to realize I was building a business.

What do you wish other people knew about your company?

We have a track record of loyalty and proven results. We have clients that have been with us over 18 years. Our forensic approach and deep knowledge of Accounting and Quickbooks has allowed us to help many small businesses grow – I have helped find hundreds of thousands of dollars for one business, tens of thousands for a law firm and thousands for an HR firm.

Keys to success in growing your business?

1. Books – Reading lots and lots of books

2. Colleagues – I am very social and have made many relationships with other business owners in my industry

3. Mentors – Seeking the advice of others

4. Husband – Last but not least, my husband is behind me 100% and his 150% in helping to care for our twin boys.

Biggest challenge

I want all of my clients to receive 5 Star services from us.  Systemizing and managing all of the clients, staff, and leads is a moving target with all of the technology that keeps changing.

How has Jill’s Office helped you run your business?

Jill’s Office is so easy to set up and get started working. The Jill’s staff is easy to work with and has the right questions to ask to know how to assist me. I can rest assured that the phones are being answered when I can’t or don’t want to and that I will get a notification on my phone and email right away to know who called and what they need.  I love that I can even respond back to Jill’s Office for them to return the call for me.

What is one piece of advice that you want to share with other small business owners?

When you feel overwhelmed in your business – write a list for one week of all the things you are doing.  Go through that list and check off all of the things someone else could do for you.  Start with the lowest paying items first.  Hire a high school or college student to do all of those things for you.  Include personal items too – not just business.  You can’t do it all.  Hire a cleaning lady, use mobile grocery stores, whatever it takes so you can focus on your business.
