This past weekend, New York played host to estate jewelry dealers and vintage treasure hunters alike at the most recent stop on the U.S. Antique Shows yearly circuit. Last year was my first time visiting the show located at the Metropolitan Pavilion, a tucked away exhibition space located in Chelsea that also hosts a number of sample sales throughout the year, and this time around I got a whole new experience.
Helping my friend Amy at the booth of Excalibur, an L.A.-based estate jewelry and watch shop specializing in antique engagement rings, I was able to steal away a few minutes here and there to explore the show during the few moments of down time. Here are a few pieces that caught my eye and stole my heart.
An antique gold, diamond, turquoise and topaz brooch was sold with minutes of the show opening at Excalibur.
This diamond and yellow gold twisted rope necklace by Cusi, at the Faerber New York booth, is many times more beautiful in real life than this photo suggests.
A pair of yellow gold and banded agate pendant earrings by the one and only JAR are, unfortunately, not for sale. Fortunately for their owner, jewelry dealer and collector Robin Katz, they are a welcome addition to her personal jewelry collection.
One thing is for certain, the rarely-used but oft-quirky stick pins make for great whimsical rings! (Excalibur)

This intriguing matchbook brooch at Steven Neckman’s booth was designed by Haines and is quite rare, the fifth of a total of eight made.
Robin Katz had a beautifully curated selection of jewelry for sale, including these ebony and yellow gold heart earrings and this rare wood and yellow gold bracelet and charm – all by Van Cleef & Arpels.
A remarkable Wiese gold bracelet made in the 1850′s was one of many highlights at Paris-based La Galerie Parisienne.
Pat Saling showed me a number of beautiful jewels at her booth, but this Boucheron 1940′s rose gold and diamond three-dimensional flower bracelet took my breath away!
