Seriously, how cute is the vicuña?! Backpacking South America, I saw them all over. They’re actually in the camel family, and live high in the Andes Mountains. Apparently, these animals were valuable to the Incas for their wool, which is very soft and warm but difficult to manufacture as the animal is only shorn every three years. Moreover, as the vicuña was at one time endangered, it is now a protected animal.
