**Primary Accountabilities**

* Design, develop, test and launch data products that serve Lightspeed educational disruptive applications as well as partners which includes data insights, trends, algorithms, recommendations for the job data, courseware data and user behaviors.

* Evaluate emerging tools and implement new ways of incorporating these advancements into the Lightspeed data platform.

* Work like a data scientist and free thinker to bring new ideas on how to map people, skills, learning materials, job openings together.

* Bring ideas to the table along with experimental code that can be used in production that will benefit the US workforce.

* Track and report the status of projects on various teams, acting as a gateway through which work should be assigned to appropriate teams while ensuring that project scope is adequately defined.

* Ensure that teams have appropriate product and technical specifications, direction, and resources to deliver products effectively by establishing realistic estimates for timelines while ensuring that projects remain on target to meet deadlines.

**Knowledge Skills & Abilities**

* Working knowledge of Hadoop-based technology.

* Experience with SQL, MySQL, NoSQL database technologies.

* Direct working experience with software development using Scala, Java or Python.

* Knowledge of non-traditional storage backends such as: Redis, Titan, Neo4J.

* Ability to build data products and RESTful APIs.

* Knowledge of the following technologies: Mahout, Storm, AWS, Matlab, R, Linux-like environments.

**Basic Qualifications**

* A minimum of 3 years of design, development, testing and the launching of web applications with Scala/Java or Python.

* A minimum of 3 years of experience writing & interfacing with web services.

* A Bachelor''s degree in a Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or an equivalent combination of formal education and directly related experience, is required.
