This position represents the Medium Voltage Products Business Unit and manages the operations of the BU in the North America Region (US, Canada and Mexico). The Local BU Manager is responsible for the P&L (and Balance sheet) and accountable to deliver results (as per targets). Ensure profit & loss and business growth through the local representation of the Global Division. Oversee country operations management of the Local Division and Local Business Units, including the full scope of R&D, Marketing & Sales, Operations (Production and/or Project Management), Supply Chain, Quality, and Operational Excellence.
• As Head of key operational units in Local markets, Local BU Manager has full responsibility for LBU’s business, including P&L and Balance sheet, in line within the strategies and targets agreed with the Division, respective BU and Local Division. Implements the Global Division strategy in the region, and ensures business development, including P&L, in local markets. Provides input to Global Division strategy. • Ensures development of performance targets in line with global targets and ensures achievement through versight and definition of improvement actions as needed Propose and after approval implement Local BU strategy, targets and approaches to prioritized channels and customer segments. • Focus on NAM-wide market and resource deployment to avoid cost and resource duplication using collaborative approach with LBU managers. Evaluates market opportunities in line with Division strategy and coordinates activities across the Region where appropriate. Ensures profitable business growth within the Region. Target has been identified to double the size of the business within next five years. Ability to grow a business is a critical competency. • Overall responsibility for successful implementation of the RACE program with Mexico and Lake Mary. • Maintain deep domain competency and focus in front-end customer-facing activity (sales, application support) Consolidate back-office and OPEX resources where possible, utilizing core functional competencies (project management, packaging engineering, OPEX, SCM, etc.) • Country-based service management and execution; back-up and guidance from competency centers as needed. • Takes a leadership role in ensuring ABB standards are met with regard to culture, health and safety, environment, security and integrity across the area of responsibility.
Basic Qualifications: • 4 yr degree in engineering or any science related field • 10 years’ experience in operations, with at least 5 years in running a P&L operations Preferred Qualifications: • MBA strongly preferred • Sales and marketing/ customer interface and contact experience • Experience interacting and communicating with International factories and customers. • Cross Cultural experience including having factory responsibility outside of US; sourcing product from global feeder factories, etc.
