Job Title: PARAMEDIC
Site Overview: Transportation - As one of the community’s largest providers of emergency and scheduled transportation, HealthEast transportation services provide wheelchair transportation, courier services, air transfers, mobile intensive care, basic life support, advanced life support-scheduled and 911 services.
Department Overview: ALS (ADVANCED LIFE SUPPORT) HealthEast provided the first coronary care ambulance in Minnesota starting in 1969. Since then, residents of Dakota County have enjoyed the benefits of experienced emergency care service for the last 37 years. HealthEast 24-hour-a-day-ALS service is supported by ambulance substations located within the communities they serve. Provides contemporary 911 emergency care through programs designed and created by the HealthEast Care System that have set prehospital clinical care standards such as our “Code AMI” and “Stroke Code” protocols.

Primary Function:
& Major Responsibilities Provide ALS/BLS transport care to patients. Respond to 911 medical emergencies to sustain life at the scene and transport to a medical facility until care is assumed by a physician. Interfacility emergent and non-emergent transports.
Identifies and prioritizes immediate patient care needs and infection control issues for medical staff.
Completes primary, secondary, objective and subjective examination according to EMS guideline.
Performs advanced level monitoring and treatment to ensure safety and quality control.
Executes disaster management program.
Assesses, identifies and addresses the special needs of adult, geriatric, adolescent and /or pediatric, neonatal patients when directly or indirectly providing treatment for patient care.
Collects, provides, and documents all information and data as required by HealthEast Medical Transportation.
Promotes personal safety in an environment safe to customers and co-workers.
Promotes positive and constructive team work.
Provides a clean and sanitary work environment including vehicles, quarters and equipment. Ensures appropriate stocked ambulance.
Duties are performed within established guidelines and time frames.
Maintains thorough knowledge of primary service area.
Maintains confidentiality in all aspects of the job.
Performs other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications: Education:
High School Diploma or equivalent (GED). Current National Registry and Minnesota State Registration as an Emergency Medical Technician-Paramedic. Current certifications in ACLS and CPR.
Experience:
Six months BLS experience preferred.
Special Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Ability to perform and knowledge of; ACLS, Disaster Management, and American Heart Association CPR, HAZ-MAT Awareness;
Good communication and problem solving skills;
The ability to lift, load and carry 150 pounds;
Class “D” drivers license; five or more years licensed driving experience; and driving record which meets minimum HealthEast requirements;
Ability to work independently or as part of a team;
Able to demonstrate competency in use of (or willingness to demonstrate competency within 90 days of hire) non-invasive monitoring equipment, infusion pumps, ventilators, and advance pharmacology/drug administration.
