Insurance Analytics group within leading management consulting firm seeks experienced consultant to support advanced analytics engagements.

 

Alvarez & Marsal (A&M) is a global professional services firm specializing in turnaround and interim management, performance improvement and business advisory services. A&M’s Insurance and Risk Advisory Services (IRAS) practice provides specialized consulting services to risk bearing entities, regulators, third party administrators, brokers and buyers of commercial insurance.  The Insurance Analytics team assists A&M’s clients to develop models and harness the power of data to make better decisions.  Our primary services include developing projection, risk simulation, and optimization models, data mining and predictive modeling.  Analytics professionals will work closely with our process improvement teams in order to improve the use of analytics in core insurance operations, and with our risk management and regulatory advisory teams to enhance engagement outcomes.

Responsibilities:

Assisting in the execution of client engagements, including

Defining the business problem and structuring analytical solutions

Developing projection, risk simulation, and optimization models

Conducting other operational, financial, statistical and quantitative analysis, and

Designing, preparing and presenting reports to clients

Researching, analyzing and developing marketing materials in support of new business opportunities

Knowledge and Tools

Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Access and PowerPoint

Some experience with statistical analysis software, programming, application development, simulation and risk modeling, and data visualization using leading software packages such as

Statistical analysis: SAS, R, etc.

Programming and application development: Matlab, Python, Visual Basic, etc.

Simulation and risk modeling: @Risk, Crystal Ball, etc.

Data visualization: Tableau, Shiny, etc.

 

Education and Experience:

Bachelor’s degree in a quantitative field (e.g. mathematics, statistics, analytical finance, computer science, actuarial science, engineering)

MBA with technical focus, or Master’s degree in quantitative field

5+ years work experience including 3+ years in an internal consulting group or with a professional services firm

Insurance industry experience is a plus

Previous experience presenting to clients (internal or external)
